Abstract: Unique systems, methods, techniques and apparatuses for a ZVT ZCT resonant converter with a variable resonant tank are disclosed. One exemplary embodiment is a system comprising a bidirectional resonant converter comprising an input/output terminal, a switching device coupled with the input/output terminal, a resonant circuit coupled with the switching device and including a variable inductor, an output/input terminal coupled with the resonant circuit, and a DC biasing circuit operatively coupled with the variable inductor. The variable inductor comprises a toroidal core, a first winding wound around the toroidal core and coupled with the switching device and the output/input terminal, a second core structured to overlap a portion of the toroidal core, and a second winding wound around the second core and coupled with the DC biasing circuit. The DC biasing circuit is controllable to vary the inductance of the variable inductor by saturating a portion of the toroidal core.

Abstract: A method of handling one or more errors in a microgrid includes measuring an attribute of a device within the microgrid for a measurement cycle and comparing the measured attribute of the device with a predetermined threshold attribute value. The presence of an error associated with the device is detected based on the comparison of the measured attribute with the predetermined threshold attribute value. An error signal is created that includes a numerical sequence having at least three digits, the numerical sequence identifying the measured attribute and the device within the microgrid.

Abstract: In one aspect, a controller for detecting erroneous data generated at an electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) is provided. The EVCS includes a plurality of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) for charging electric vehicles. The controller is configured to store a plurality of data models that predict a current at a point of common coupling (PCC) drawn by the EVCS from a utility, where each of the plurality of data models ignores measurements from a different one of the plurality of EVSEs, generate a plurality of predicted current values, each generated using a different one of plurality of data models, measure an actual current value at the PCC, calculate a plurality of difference values, each comprising a difference between one of the predicted current values and the actual current value, and determine whether the erroneous data is being generated based on the plurality of difference values.

Abstract: A method for predicting power converter health is provided. The method comprises receiving a plurality of parameter measurements associated with a power converter system comprising a power converter. The plurality of parameter measurements comprises a first set of system measurements and a second set of failure precursor measurements. The method further comprises inputting the first set of system measurements into a first machine learning algorithm to generate expected failure precursor measurement information and inputting the expected failure precursor measurement information and the second set of failure precursor measurements into a second machine learning algorithm to generate component failure prediction information. The method also comprises performing one or more actions based on the generated component failure prediction information.
