Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to perform downlink (DL) channel quality measurement reporting is disclosed. The UE can decode a system information block type y bandwidth reduced (SIBy-BR) received from an eNodeB. The SIB1-BR can instruct the UE to include a DL channel quality measurement report in a message 3 (Msg3) transmitted during a random access procedure between the UE and the eNodeB, wherein y is a positive integer greater than or equal to 1. The UE can determine a DL channel quality measurement for a DL channel between the UE and the eNodeB. The UE can encode the Msg3 for delivery over an uplink channel to the eNodeB. The Msg3 can be delivered during the random access procedure and can include the DL channel quality measurement report with the DL channel quality measurement.

Abstract: Packet protection is described. Data of a group of packets is concatenated with a security key and a sequence number of the packet. A hash mark of the concatenated data is calculated and sent with data or control information in a packet. If each packet has reserved bits, at least some of the packets each has data, a least a portion of the hash mark, and a header having: a first bit that indicates if the hash mark is present, and a second bit that indicates if the packet is used to determine the hash mark. Otherwise, a separate control packet is sent that contains the hash mark, a first sequence number of the group of packets, and a PDU type indicating that the control packet is an integrity protection packet for the group of PDCP packets.

The UE may, if a regular buffer status report (BSR) is triggered and a logical channel scheduling request (SR) delay timer is not running, and if available uplink shared channel (UL-SCH) data resources do not meet one or more logical channel prioritization (LCP) mapping restrictions configured for a logical channel of uplink data: trigger a scheduling request to request UL-SCH data resources for a new transmission of uplink data. Currently pending SRs and BSRs may not be cancelled after assembly of a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU), but may be cancelled at a later time when a MAC PDU including a BSR is transmitted.

Abstract: Provided herein is design of early data transmission in wireless communication system. An apparatus for a user equipment (UE) includes a processor configured to: encode a physical random access channel (PRACH) sequence from a plurality of PRACH sequence for transmission via a PRACH to perform a random access procedure, wherein indication of support of early data transmission (EDT) that is transmitted during the random access procedure is based on at least one of the plurality of PRACH sequences, higher layer signaling, PRACH resources, PRACH formats, and a payload from the UE; and send the PRACH sequence to a radio frequency (RF) interface; and the RF interface to receive the PRACH sequence from the processor. Design of random access response (RAR) is also disclosed herein.
