Abstract: Devices, methods, user equipment (UE), network core devices, gateway devices, evolved node B (eNB), and storage media for UE provisioning are described. In one embodiment, a UE is configured for codec bitrate adaptation via an interface configured to receive a bandwidth indication and a codec awareness indication from an eNB. The UE process the bandwidth indication and identifies, based on the codec awareness indication, a first codec from a plurality of codecs supported by the UE. The UE then configures with the eNB using data encoded with the first codec. This data may, for example, be Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) data or other such media data. Selection of the codec or associated codec information may be further based on the codec awareness indication.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing location techniques for a NB UE are described. The UE transmits, to a location server, a capability message that indicates position capabilities of the UE to support different positioning methods and common information related to the position methods, including that the UE is a NB UE. The UE receives a request for location information that includes a request for positioning measurements for a particular positioning method, a NB message size limit that indicates a limit on an amount of location information to return, and a NB response time to provide the positioning measurements. At least one of the response time or message size limit is different than for the NB UE than for non-NB UEs. The UE enters an idle state, performs the measurements, and transmits at expiry of or before the NB response time, a message containing the measurements.

Abstract: A process for execution by user equipment (UE) for activation or deactivation of a Radio Link Control (RLC) entity for Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) duplication includes identifying a set of RLC entities that are configured by a Radio Resource Control (RRC) for communication using PDCP. The process includes, for each RLC entity of the set of RLC entities: determining a network configured offset value; determining a channel condition value; and determining an RLC entity level value based on a combination of the network configured offset value and the channel condition value. The process includes comparing the RLC entity level value for each RLC entity to a threshold value; and based on comparing the RLC entity level value to the threshold value, selecting a subset of RLC entities for PDCP duplication; and activating or deactivating PDCP duplication for the selected subset of RLC entities.

Abstract: Embodiments of a next generation Node-B (gNB), User Equipment (UE) and methods for communication are generally described herein. A gNB may be configurable to operate as a master gNB (MgNB). The MgNB may transmit radio-resource control (RRC) signaling to provide information for dual connectivity to allow the UE to utilize radio resources of both a master cell group (MCG) associated with the MgNB and a secondary cell group (SCG) associated with a secondary gNB (SgNB). The MgNB may transmit, to the SgNB, an SgNB release request message that indicates a partial suspension of the dual connectivity, wherein: a first portion of a configuration for the SCG is to be maintained and a second portion of the configuration for the SCG is to be released.

Abstract: An apparatus of a user equipment (UE) includes processing circuitry configured to decode a master information block (MIB) using a set of physical broadcast channel (PBCH) symbols received within a downlink frame to obtain system frame number (SFN) information. The downlink frame includes multiple copies of the PBCH symbols within at least three subframes of the downlink frame. A system information block (SIB) may be decoded based on the SFN information, to obtain uplink channel configuration information. Random access channel (RACH) procedure may be performed with a base station (BS) based on the uplink channel configuration information, to obtain an uplink resource assignment. A connection setup completion message can be encoded for transmission to the BS using the uplink resource assignment. The set of PBCH symbols can include a set of four legacy PBCH symbols.

Abstract: Embodiments are generally directed to establishment of random access channel communications. An embodiment of an apparatus for a user equipment (UE) to perform a random access (RACH) procedure, the apparatus including one or more baseband processors to generate a first Radio Resource Control (RRC) RACH procedure message to transmit to an Evolved Node B (eNB) or Next Generation Node B (gNB), the first RRC RACH procedure message including a UE identification (ID) and a request message with scheduled transmission content data, the UE ID being a common UE ID for RACH procedures between the UE and the eNB or gNB, and process a second RRC RACH procedure message received from the eNB or gNB, the second RRC RACH procedure message including contention resolution data for a random access preamble and the request message; and a memory to store data for the RACH procedure.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to implementations to support non-UE-specific (i.e. common) and UE-specific search spaces (SS) for M-PDCCH. Another implementation relates to an eNB comprising RF circuitry to transmit configuration information of a plurality of CSSs for M-PDCCH to one or more UEs supporting a reduced BW, wherein the plurality of CSSs for M-PDCCH are differentiated by “based on functionality”-differentiation that includes the type of use case and/or an EC level of the UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatus, and computer programs, for selecting radio link control (RLC) entities to transmit packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) control protocol data unit (PDU). In one aspect, the method includes actions of accessing, by a device in a wireless communication system, data representing an index of RLC entities of a data radio bearer (DRB)/PDCP entity and RLC activation state information, the activation state information indicating whether one or more RLC entities of the DRB/PDCP entity in the index of RLC entities is activated or deactivated, selecting, by the device in the wireless communication system, a subset of the RLC entities of the DRB/PDCP entity based on an index position in the index and the activation state information for each of the RLC entities, and using the selected subset of RLC entities of the DRB/PDCP entity to transmit the PDCP Control PDU.
