摘要: A method of forming in-situ composites of metallic alloys comprising an amorphous phase are provided. The method generally comprising the steps of transforming a molten liquid metal at least partially into a crystalline solid solution by cooling the molten liquid metal down to temperatures below a “remelting” temperature, then allowing the solid crystalline metal to remain at temperatures above the glass transition temperature and below the remelting temperature such that at least a portion of the metal remelts to form a partially amorphous phase in an undercooled liquid, and finally subsequently cooling the composite alloy to temperatures below the glass transition temperature.

摘要: Bulk solidifying amorphous alloys exhibiting improved processing and mechanical properties and methods of forming these alloys are provided. The bulk solidifying amorphous alloys are composed to have high Poisson's ratio values. Exemplary Pt-based bulk solidifying amorphous alloys having such high Poisson's ratio values are also described. The Pt-based alloys are based on Pt—Ni—Co—Cu—P alloys, and the mechanical properties of one exemplary alloy having a composition of substantially Pt57.5Cu14.7Ni5.3P22.5 are also described.

摘要: The present invention discloses a portable foot tanning device The foot tanning device is comprised of a housing having an opening leading into a compartment comprised of a transparent receptacle that protects the user's feet from the lamp. The housing also has external controls for setting the time duration of the tanning session. When the device is turned on a fan comes on to regulate the internal temperature. The feet receptacle is releasably attached to the interior of the device and is accessible through the underside of the device which is open thereby a user can selectively remove and clean the feet receptacle between tanning sessions. The ultraviolet lamp encircles the feet receptacle providing an even tan of the inserted appendages and is easily replacable through the bottom of the device.

摘要: A metrology system and method for measuring the thickness of thin-films of semiconductor wafer. This system and method analyze x-ray reflectivity data to determine transmission characteristics of thin-film layers. Based on these transmission characteristics the thickness of the thin-layer can be determined. Unlike some prior systems and methods, the system and method herein does not determine the thickness of the thin-film layer based on a fringe pattern in reflectivity for the thin-film layer. The fact that the system and method herein does not rely the fringe pattern is particularly advantageous in situations where the thin-film layer is of thickness which makes it very difficult to resolve the fringe pattern in the reflectivity data.
