Abstract:
A power module of an electrical connector is provided which has a dielectric housing and a pair of blade terminals. The housing has a forward face and a support arm projecting forwardly from the face. The support arm has opposing first and second sides. The housing has a cavity. The face has a pair of slots extending therethrough which are in communication with the cavity and which are provided adjacent the sides of the support arm. Each of the blade terminals has a body portion and a blade portion. The body portions are housed in the cavity and the blade portions extend through the slots and are positioned alongside the sides of the support arm. The electrical connector may also have a signal module interconnected to the power module. The electrical connector may also be configured to mate with another electrical connector as part of a connector assembly.
Abstract:
Modular connectors are provided that have a modular receptacle connector assembly matable with a modular plug connector assembly for connecting AC or DC power connectors and electrical signals including board-to-board and wire-to-board connection. Provided is a “pass through” modular component to facilitate connection and disconnection of only the power supply for service without disconnecting the entire system. The wire connector also may load to the main housing thus obviating the need for a panel mount. Also provided is a one-unit modular connector system with either a coplanar or a right-angle design. Furthermore, multiple AC and/or DC power supplies can be provided that utilize minimum board space.

Abstract:
A method of using a water-base wellbore fluid in subterranean wells that penetrate through a subterranean formation containing a shale which swells in the presence of water. The well bore fluid includes, an aqueous based continuous phase, and a shale hydration inhibition agent. One illustrative shale hydration inhibition agent is preferably the reaction product of a hydrogenation reaction of the product of the reaction of an aromatic amine with an aldehyde, preferably formaldehyde. Alternatively the shale hydration inhibition agent may be the reaction product of a hydrogenation reaction of the product of the reaction of aniline and formaldehyde. In one illustrative embodiment, the shale hydration inhibition agent is selected from the class of compounds known as polycycloaliphatic amines. Further the shale hydration inhibition agent may be present in the form of a free-base or in the form of an acid salt of the disclosed amine compounds. The shale hydration inhibition agent is present in sufficient concentration to substantially reduce the swelling of shale drilling cuttings upon contact with the fluid.
Abstract:
A side-entry, blade-receiving electrical connector is provided for mounting on a printed circuit board. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a bottom wall and a blade-receiving receptacle at a side of the housing. At least one conductive terminal is mounted on the housing and includes a contact section exposed within the receptacle for electrically engaging a terminal blade of a complementary mating connecting device inserted into the side receptacle generally parallel to the printed circuit board. A mounting section is exposed exteriorly of the housing below the bottom wall thereof for mounting the connector on the printed circuit board. A flex section joins the mounting section to the contact section and performs a dual function of (a) spacing the bottom wall of the housing above the printed circuit board and (b) providing a yielding flexibility between the connector and the board.
Abstract:
A connector assembly for holding connector components together. A plug connector in the assembly has a housing with side walls and a pedestal for housing contact portions of terminals which engage contact portions of terminals in an opposing receptacle connector. End walls of the pedestal include a laterally, central projection for engagement with corresponding indentations in end walls of an opposing receptacle connector. The projection is disposed in the plug connector at a different elevation than the tops of the contact portions so engagement with corresponding components of the receptacle connector are not simultaneous to dilute insertion force.
Abstract:
An electrical connector is adapted from mounting to a printed circuit board having a mounting hole. The connector includes a terminal housing having at least one mounting peg insertable through the hole in an axial direction. The mounting peg is bifurcated to define a pair of legs separated by an axial slit. One of the legs is a generally straight leg having a smooth outside surface facing one side of the hole inner wall. The other leg is a hooked leg having a radially outwardly extending hook for latching beneath a surface of the printed circuit board at an opposite side of the hole inner wall. The generally straight leg includes a radially outwardly projecting rib spaced axially at a base of the generally straight leg near the terminal housing. The hooked leg includes a reduced cross-sectional area near a base of the hooked leg near the terminal housing.
Abstract:
An arrangement is provided for connecting an electrical connector to a mating printed circuit board. The connector includes a dielectric housing having top and bottom walls joined by spaced apart side walls. An elongated slot is defined by the top and bottom walls for receiving the mating printed circuit board. A plurality of terminals are mounted in the housing with contact portions along the slot for engaging contact pads on the circuit board. At least one pair of aligned apertures pass through the top and bottom walls of the housing, and an aperture in the circuit board is adapted for alignment with the housing apertures when the circuit board is inserted into the slot. A fastener is received in the housing apertures and the aligned board aperture to maintain the board in mating relationship with the connector. The fastener is adapted to clamp against the top and bottom walls of the housing. The width of the slot is greater than the thickness of the printed circuit board to allow the board to float relative to the fastener, whereby the clamping forces of the fastener against the top and bottom walls of the housing are not transmitted to the printed circuit board.
Abstract:
A method of fabricating a pin tip is provided by a cutting and coining operation which first forms a pin tip which has a generally rounded configuration defining 4 slightly curved convex sides joined at 4 edges converging at a pin end. Thereafter the pin tip is coined again thereby overlapping portions of the conductive plating layer over the sharp edges of the pin tip.
Abstract:
A connector is provided that includes a female terminal with sacrificial portion. The terminal is configured to minimize arcing between a mating male terminal and an intended contact portion of the female terminal. The female terminal is configured such that arcs between the male terminal and the female terminal occur such that the sacrificial portion of the female terminal experiences any arcing while the intended contact portion remains suitable for reliably engaging the male terminal.
