摘要: Systems and methods include techniques for using smart polymers. Units of smart polymers with per-hydrogen (pH) sensitivity are inserted into drilling fluid pumped into a well during drilling. The smart polymers are configured to be triggered by hydrogen ion concentrations. An insertion timestamp associated with each unit is stored and indicates a time that each unit was inserted. Continuous images and observed characteristics of returning mud exiting through an annulus of the well and containing the units of smart polymer are captured by a camera positioned at a sensing location and linked to the monitoring system. An estimate of pH values at a drill bit of the drilling operation is determined using the continuous images, observed characteristics, and insertion timestamps, and based at least in part on executing image processing algorithms, machine-learning models, and deep-learning models. Changes to be made to drilling parameters are suggested.

摘要: A method of drilling a subterranean geological formation is described. The method includes driving a drill bit to form a wellbore into the subterranean geological formation thereby producing a formation fluid including hydrogen sulfide (H2S). The method includes injecting a drilling fluid into the subterranean geological formation through the wellbore. The drilling fluid composition includes 0.25 to 2 wt. % of a primary H2S scavenger which is potassium permanganate. The drilling fluid composition includes an invert emulsion which includes a continuous phase including mineral oil and a dispersive phase including water. The potassium permanganate present in the drilling fluid composition reacts with the H2S present in the formation fluid to produce a dispersion of manganese-containing particles which are at least one selected from the group consisting of manganese sulfide and manganese sulfate.

The fluorescent core can include up-converting nanoparticles, rare earth element doped oxide, long persistent fluorescent materials, or encapsulated lanthanide complexes. Methods include mixing a nanoparticle tag into a fluid, flowing the fluid through a work string into a subterranean formation, recovering subterranean rock samples from the subterranean formation, and determining an origin location of the subterranean rock sample by detecting the presence of the nanoparticle tag on the sample.

摘要: A method includes introducing into a drilling fluid a plurality of tags having a first clay nanoparticle and a first polymer embedded into the clay nanoparticle and circulating the drilling fluid and tags through a well during a drilling operation that creates formation cuttings such that the tags interact with the formation cuttings, creating tagged cuttings. The returned cuttings are collected from the circulating drilling fluid at a surface of the well, and the tags on the returned cuttings are detected to identify the tagged cuttings. The method also includes correlating the tagged cuttings with a drill depth in the well from the drilling operation.

摘要: The present invention relates to the technical field of petroleum drilling, discloses a reservoir protecting agent composition for reservoir with cracks, a drilling fluid containing the same and use thereof. The reservoir protecting agent composition contains an elastic polymer particle, and at least one of a synthetic fiber and a film-forming agent; the elastic polymer particle contains an intermediate product, base, salt and water with specific amounts; and the intermediate product is made of raw materials comprising acrylamide, a cationic monomer, a cross-linking agent, an initiator, a toughening material and water with specific amounts. The reservoir protecting agent composition of the present invention can effectively prevent the drilling fluid from invading the reservoir with cracks, and rapidly block off cracks in the reservoir with cracks. The reservoir protecting agent composition has a high blocking rate and the blocking layer is easily flowback and has advantages such as easy use, good environmental protection performances, and good protection performances for the reservoir.

摘要: The present disclosure discloses a comb polymer or a salt thereof, wherein the structural formula of the comb polymer containing the following constitutional units. When the comb polymer provided in the present disclosure is used in a water-based drilling fluid as a filtration control agent, it can eliminate the defects of conventional filtration control agents which would be subject to ineffectiveness under high temperature and high salinity conditions. The comb polymer has high temperature and salt resistance, and can be produced through simple processes at comparatively low costs. When the comb polymer provided by the present disclosure is used as a filtration control agent, even being added into the drilling fluid at a comparatively low amount, it can still present rather good effects in lowering the amount of filter loss.

摘要: Clay-based retarders may be useful in delaying the gel time of a gellable treatment fluid and, consequently, subterranean operations. For example, a method may involve providing a gellable treatment fluid comprising: an aqueous base fluid; a base polymer comprising an acrylamide monomer unit; a polymeric organic crosslinking agent comprising a crosslinkable polymer selected from the group consisting of polyethyleneimine, polyvinylamine, chitosan, any derivative thereof, any salt thereof, and any combination thereof; and a clay-based gel retarder; introducing the gellable treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation; and forming a gel with the gellable treatment fluid in at least a portion of the wellbore, at least a portion of the subterranean formation, or both. In some instances, producing the gellable treatment fluid may involve not pre-hydrating the clay-based gel retarder. In some instances, the gellable treatment fluid may not be thixotropic or pseudoplastic before introduction into the wellbore.
