Abstract: An oxidizing composition for removing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from a gaseous or liquid stream includes mixture products of water, sodium hypochlorite, a chelating agent, and a transition metal compound. The chelating agent can be etidronic acid; the transition metal compound can be an iron (III) compound, such as ferric sulfate. The oxidizing composition is formed by (i) combining water, chelating agent, and transition metal compound to form an activator composition and (ii) mixing the activator composition with a sodium hypochlorite solution to adjust the pH, such as for a particular use. Some embodiments include various apparatuses and methods for treating different treatment sites with the oxidizing compositions disclosed herein. Examples of suitable treatment sites include, without limitation, natural gas pipelines, bubble towers, oil wells, gas wells, sewer wet wells, air scrubbers, saltwater disposal pipelines, and saltwater disposal wells.

Abstract: A method of improving rheological properties of a divalent brine based downhole treatment fluid at an elevated temperature comprises adding to the divalent brine based downhole treatment fluid a rheological modifier, which comprises a carboxylic acid ester, or a phosphate ester blended with an ethoxylated glycol, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing in an amount effective to improve the rheological properties of the divalent brine based downhole treatment fluid at a temperature of greater than about 200° F. The divalent brine based downhole treatment fluid comprises calcium bromide, calcium chloride, zinc bromide, zinc chloride, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing.

Abstract: Water-based drilling fluids may include an aqueous base fluid and a mixture of polyethylene polyamines in an amount of from 1 lbm/bbl to 20 lbm/bbl relative to the total volume of the water-based drilling fluid. The polyethylene polyamines of the mixture may have a first chemical structure H2NCH2CH2(NHCH2CH2)xNH2, where x may be an integer greater than or equal to 3. The average molecular weight of the polyethylene polyamines in the water-based drilling fluid having the first chemical structure may be from 200 g/mol to 400 g/mol. Methods for drilling a subterranean well with the water-based drilling fluids are also disclosed.

Abstract: Waste water is remanufactured with ozone in a series of mixing vessels. The ozone is dispersed to both a top and a bottom portion of each mixing vessel, but in different amounts. This creates an electrical potential difference across the height of each mixing vessel which significantly improves the oxidation of organic carbon-based impurities and eliminates H2S and bacteria. Sludge and solids floating to the top of each mixing vessels are removed, as well as sludge and solids settling to the bottom of the mixing vessels. When oil and gas well waste water is treated in this manner, the resulting treated water is purified and has a high salt content suitable for oil or gas well injection.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for increasing recovery, or flowback, of hydrocarbon compounds from hydrocarbon-containing subterranean fractured rock formations (tight shale reservoirs). The flowback compositions include an anionic dimer surfactant, an anionic monomer surfactant, and a demulsifier. The flowback compositions convert oil-wet rocks to water-wet, yet exhibit a low tendency of composition components to sorb to the rock. The flowback compositions do not cause formation of emulsions with hydrocarbon compounds within the subterranean fractured rock formations. The flowback composition are useful for increasing the yield of hydrocarbons recovered from tight shale reservoirs.

Abstract: Corrosion inhibiting compositions and methods of inhibiting corrosion on a metal surface commonly used in the petroleum industry is disclosed. The corrosion inhibitor includes at least one azole, at least one polypeptide derived from amino acid, at least one intensifier preferably from metal halides, and at least one surfactant. The methods include combining effective amounts of the corrosion inhibitor composition and contacting a metal surface in aqueous environment commonly found in oil and gas industry. The composition is very effective against corrosion of metals in contact with aqueous media when used in a dosage as low as 50 ppm.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a lubricant package for water based drilling fluids. The lubricant package includes water, a polyethylene glycol, and a lubricating agent. The lubricating agent includes triethanolamine, or a C12-C14 alcohol ethoxylate, or a combination of triethanolamine and C12-C14 alcohol ethoxylate. The weight ratio of the polyethylene glycol to the lubricating agent in the lubricant package is from 1:2 to 2:1. Embodiments are also directed to a water-based drilling fluid composition including an aqueous base fluid, one or more additives, and the lubricant package for water based drilling fluids.
