Abstract: A pattern for application to the face of the tensioner arm, guide or snubber in contact with a chain to intentionally break up the chain contact force between the back of the chain links and the tensioner arm, guide or snubber face. This is done to prevent alignment with the chain related orders which are causing NVH within the chain system or to increase overall NVH to obscure chain related orders.

Abstract: Provided is a sprocket having a body formed by a powder metallurgy process with a predetermined density and vibration energy absorbing properties, and teeth with a greater density than the density of the body, and a method of making the same. The sprocket minimizes mechanical vibration during a chain-to-sprocket tooth contact. The teeth of the sprocket have a higher density than the body of the sprocket.

Abstract: An integrated valve for a hydraulic tensioner includes a pressure relief valve with an integrated disk check valve surrounding the pressure relief valve. A hydraulic tensioner includes a housing with a bore and a hollow piston slidably received within the bore. A piston spring biases the piston in a direction toward a power transmission device. The tensioner also includes an integrated check valve in a body of the housing. The integrated check valve includes a pressure relief valve mechanism and a disk check valve mechanism surrounding a circumference of the pressure relief valve mechanism. The pressure relief valve mechanism permits transfer of pressurized fluid from a piston chamber formed by the hollow piston to the source of pressurized fluid and the check valve mechanism permits transfer of pressurized fluid from the source of pressurized fluid to the piston chamber.

Abstract: A check valve assembly (20) and method of assembly can include a hydraulic tensioner (10) having a body (12) defining an inlet fluid passage with an inlet fluid passage port (14a) having a valve seat (14b). The check valve assembly (20) can include a retainer (22) located within the body (12), a valve disk (30) having a sealing surface (32), and a biasing member (34) normally biasing the valve disk (30) toward the inlet fluid passage port (14a). The retainer (22) can define an outlet passage (24). The valve disk (30) and the biasing member (34) can be received within a cavity (26) of the retainer (22). The biasing member (34) can allow reciprocal movement of the valve disk (30) from a closed seated position sealing the inlet fluid passage port (14a) to an open unseated position spaced from the inlet fluid passage port (14a) opening the inlet passage.
