Abstract:
A patterned article and a method of making the patterned article. The patterned article comprises a glass substrate and black matrix segments. The black matrix segments are in the form of a pattern and at least one of the segments has a line width of 8 μm or less. The article also comprises an adhesion agent positioned between the glass substrate and the black matrix segments. The adhesion agent provides at least one of: a total surface energy of 65 mN/m or less and at least a 30% reduction in surface polarity compared to a control untreated glass surface as determined by H2O and diiodomethane contact angle and application of the Wu model.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for manufacturing a glass article includes flowing a glass ribbon through a housing having first and second side walls. The glass ribbon has first and second opposing major surfaces extending in a lengthwise and a widthwise direction. Ions are directed from an ionization source toward at least one of the first and second opposing major surfaces of the glass ribbon and/or an electrode directs particles away from at least one of the first and second opposing major surfaces of the glass ribbon. Such can reduce a density of particles on a major surface of the glass article formed from the glass ribbon.
Abstract:
A display backlight unit is disclosed including a glass substrate with a first major surface and a second major surface opposite the first major surface, the first major surface coated with at least one of 3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane, aminopropyl triethoxysilane, or silanated PMMA, and a plurality of PMMA-containing light extraction dots deposited on the coated first major surface.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing and treating a glass article wherein the treatment of the article includes directing a flow of plasma, such as a flow of plasma comprising an atmospheric pressure plasma jet, toward an edge surface of the article. Such treatment can reduce a density of particles on an edge surface of the article. Such treatment can also increase the edge strength of the article.
Abstract:
Glass substrates comprising an A-side upon which silicon thin film transistor devices can be fabricated and a B-side having a substantially homogeneous organic film thereon are described. The organic film includes a moiety that reduces voltage generation by contact electrification or triboelectrification. Methods of manufacturing the glass substrates and example devices incorporating the glass substrates are also described.
Abstract:
A free-standing multi-laminate hermetic sheet includes a first carrier film, a hermetic inorganic thin film formed over the first carrier film, and a second carrier film formed over the hermetic inorganic thin film. A workpiece can be hermetically sealed using the multi-laminate sheet, which can be applied to the workpiece in a step separate from a formation step of either the multi-laminate sheet or the workpiece.
