Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for fuel injection are disclosed. The apparatus includes an inner sac with one or more primary passages extending therefrom. The one or more primary passages inject fuel therethrough and comprising a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion, where the second portion is disposed between the first portion and the third portion and has a cross-sectional area smaller than that of both the first portion and the third portion. The apparatus also includes one or more secondary passages extending from an outer surface of the apparatus to fluidly couple with the second portion of the one or more primary passages. The one or more secondary passages inject air to form fuel-and-air mixture with the fuel injected from the one or more primary passages.

Abstract: A fuel injector for gaseous fuel is provided. The fuel injector includes at least one valve having a valve seat and a plunger that engages the seat to prevent gaseous fuel flow and is displaced from the seat to permit gaseous fuel flow. Displacement of the plunger away from the seat to open the at least one valve is resisted by a first plunger control mechanism and then a second plunger control mechanism depending on the distance the plunger is lifted from the seat.

Abstract: Fuel injecting apparatus and methods are disclosed having components configured to provide a desired radial orientation of nozzle spray holes. Alignment rings for coupling fuel injector components include a ring body that includes a plurality of alignment guides configured to be received by complementary alignment features in the fuel injector components so as to align the fuel injector components in a desired orientation relative to each other. The plurality of alignment guides includes a primary alignment guide and at least one secondary alignment guide that is different from the primary alignment guide and each alignment guide in the plurality of alignment guides is equally spaced apart about the inner sidewall surface.
