    摘要: A face protector comprises a protective structure shaped for extending about a person's mandibular region and a mounting for mounting the face protector to a military combat helmet. The protective structure comprises a front portion and opposed left and right side portions extending from the front portion, the front portion having a free upper edge for positioning below eye level and above mouth level when mounted to the helmet, and being size to extend to below a person's chin. The front portion has inner and outer surfaces, and the mounting is positioned to space the inner surface and the upper edge away from the person's mouth and nose when mounted to the helmet to provide a gap for the passage of ambient air therebetween to permit unobstructed breathing. The protective structure comprises a ballistic resistant material for providing protection against high velocity fragments from explosive devices.

    摘要: A user annotates a shared document with text, sound, images, video, an e-mail message, graphics, screen snapshots, web site snapshots to share with others. The document and its annotations are stored in a digital object repository to which other users have access. Within the closed collaboration system, only users who are authenticated may upload digital objects, annotate digital objects and view objects and their annotations. The user sends a message to other users to invite them to view the object and its annotations and to add their own annotations. An annotated object generates an alert for all of the invited users. A remote authentication gateway authenticates users and has a repository for user metadata. Digital object repositories are separate from the authentication gateway, thus providing for disintermediation of the user metadata from the digital object data. The collaboration system may be hosted by a third party on a server computer available over the Internet that displays a web site. A user is not required to have collaboration system software on his or her computer and may annotate any image on the web site for later viewing by other users of the web site.

    摘要: A destination storage server, which may be a filer, mirrors a volume managed by a source storage server, which may also be a filer. According to an embodiment of the invention, changes made to the source volume are logged and persistently stored on a data container, such as a file, on the destination volume. The source storage server is coupled to clients that make data access requests to the volume. When an access request is made by a client, the request is written to a log on the source storage server. At the same time, the request is written to a data container on a volume managed by the destination storage server. Each source storage server coupled to the destination storage server has its own file on the volume.

    摘要: A gateway apparatus includes multiple network server cards which are synchronized with each other to allow time slot switching of synchronous data across an asynchronous medium between source and destination server cards. The gateway includes synchronization logic and a data adaptation layer which implements a protocol for formatting of synchronous serial data. The data undergoes serial to parallel conversion and is formed into per time slot subpackets which are further packetized along with context and synchronization data. The packet is transmitted through an asynchronous switch after which the packet is disassembled into its constituent subpackets and queued into play-out buffers according to each subpackets' associated context and synchronization data. The apparatus allows synchronous data to be switched from a source time slot to a destination time slot across the asynchronous switch with a known, fixed delay. The gateway apparatus requires only a single asynchronous switch to transmit data between and among both the synchronous and asynchronous domains.
