    摘要: Methods of controlling an information processing device in the sending of commands to a printer for control thereof, methods of controlling transmission of bit-map data, and systems embodying data and command flow control distinguish between true and false real-time commands. In one aspect, it is determined if a data stream to be transmitted includes bit-map data. If so, then a real-time processing disable command is sent; and then the data stream including the bit-map data is sent. In another aspect, if the status of real-time command receipt is disabled, then a data stream including bit-map data is transmitted, followed by the transmission of a real-time processing enable command, and then the transmission of a real-time command. In a system including a host computer and a printer, a detector determines if a data stream to be transmitted from the host computer to the printer includes bit-map data, and a processor transmits a real-time processing disable command from the computer to the printer; and then transmits the data stream including the bit-map data to the printer, if and when the detector determines that the data stream includes bit-map data.

    摘要: A printing device and control method that facilitates setting of waiting periods for cut-sheet paper insertion and commencement of paper transport or printing through application of waiting time control commands. By establishing a command for setting these waiting periods and incorporating apparatus in the printer for analyzing such a command, a configuration is realized in which these waiting periods are settable and adjustable by the host computer. This provides more efficient POS type printer control and allows setting of the desired time required for positioning recording paper according to operator experience. An interface unit is used to receive and interpret print data and recording paper positioning time setting commands and data from the host computer. The received commands and data are temporarily stored in a data memory, and after insertion of the recording paper is detected, used by one or more timing circuits to wait for a set amount of time before transport of or printing on the cut-sheet paper is initiated by a printing mechanism controller, during which time paper positioning is confirmed.

    摘要: A printing system, according to the present invention, is comprised of a carriage having a thermal print head and associated ink ribbon cartridge, a platen, a label tape cassette, and a suitable housing and control electronics. The thermal print head can be alternatively positioned over the platen for printing on ordinary paper, or positioned to be in contact with the label tape cassette for making adhesive labels. An optical sensor detects when the printing carriage swings beyond the normal plain paper printing range. The thermal print head has sufficient dot forming capability and the control electronics is designed to support the printing of many fonts, including Japanese Kanji (Chinese characters), Hiragana, Katakana, and Romaji (e.g., English alphabet).

    摘要: A portable printing system is provided for printing an image, such as alphanumeric or symbol information on a moveable recording medium, such as a tape, a sheet or the like, by means of manual scanning of the recording medium relative to the printing system. The printing system comprises a hand-held printer unit including a print head having an array of printing elements in combination with an adjacently disposed drive roller both disposed in cooperative arrangement along one edge of the printer unit. The drive roller is coupled to an encoder inside the unit that generates timing pulses upon rotational movement of the drive roller which control the rate of printing at the printing head of the printer to synchronize printing with the rate of movement of the recording medium relative to the printer unit. The printer unit may be detachably mounted to a recording medium transport unit which includes a platen which is engaged by the drive roller and print head with a recording medium and ink ribbon disposed between the print head and the platen. Alternatively, the printer unit may be hand-held with the drive roller and print head in engagement with a flat recording medium, such as an ordinary paper sheet. In either case, the recording medium travels in a path substantially perpendicular to the array of printing elements on the print head. A combination of two tape recording mediums is also disclosed to provide means to protect the printed image from the possibility of smudges and smears or other image deterioration from occurring directly on the printed image.

The time control circuit includes a charging circuit having a capacitor, and a discharging circuit connected in parallel. The charging circuit is inserted between the power supply terminals and includes a constant voltage component. A switching circuit operates in response to the level of charge on the capacitor to control the application of current to the heat generating means.
