摘要: An apparatus and method for selectively delivering a medicament to a target location of the wall of a body cavity, blood vessel, or the like, comprising a compressed hollow cylinder of permeable, expandable foam, attached to the distal end of a delivery device such as a catheter or catheter guidewire. Using the delivery device, the compressed cylinder is advanced to a target location within the body, and the compressed foam cylinder is allowed to expand so as to contact the walls of the body cavity, blood vessel, or the like, while allowing bodily fluids to freely flow through the central lumen of the cylinder. The foam cylinder is provided with means for perfusing it with a medicament so that the medicament is placed in contact with the walls of the patient's anatomy, and is also provided with means for preventing the medicament from entering the patient's bloodstream.

摘要: Apparatus and method are disclosed by which a distal end portion of a wire may be deposited at selected sites in body passageways. The apparatus includes an elongate wire having a distal end section for detachment and delivery to a target location, the wire also having a discontinuity located rearwardly of the distal end section for rupturing when vibrational energy is applied to the wire. Also included is a vibrational energy source couplable to the proximal end of the wire for selectively applying vibrational energy to the wire to travel to the discontinuity and cause detachment of the end section. The discontinuities may take the form of cuts formed in the wire, reduced diameter sections in the wire, adhesive, welded or soldered couplings between the wire and the distal end section, or the wire transitioning from the wire to a large mass disposed on the distal end section.

摘要: The method for automatic dosing of drugs utilizes a delivery device which may be administered to an animal. The delivery device is configured to have one or more compartments or reservoirs, each containing at least one drug so that a plurality of doses of the drug(s) are held within the device. In accordance with the present invention, the delivery device selectively releases doses of the drug(s) to provide an efficacious dosing pattern. One primary function of the present invention is to release two or more pesticides in such a pattern that parasites are effectively controlled while preventing the development of tolerance to the drugs within the parasites. Preferably, the delivery device is programmable to effectuate the release of the drug(s) at a desired time to maintain efficacious levels of the drug while minimizing the amount of drug which must be used.

摘要: A knock down furniture system is presented. The furniture uses joints which bend or twist a panel when inserted into an adjoining panel to place the joint under stress and stiffen the joint. Preferably, tabs are used in combination with offset or rotated slots to achieve the same. The system allows for furniture which does not require fasteners or tools and which is easily assembled while still being stable. Parts of the furniture can be interchanged within a piece of furniture or between different pieces of furniture to customize the configuration of the furniture.

摘要: A medical system and device for use in delivering RF energy to a tissue opening and a method for determining an RF dose is disclosed. In one embodiment, the medical device includes an electrode or anchor and one or more devices, such as an impedance electrode, RF electrode and/or thermocouple. The electrode or anchor can be deployed from a delivery shaft inside the left atrium, for example, of a heart and substantially conform to the tissue proximate the tissue opening. Tissue characteristics, such as temperature and/or impedance, can be measured, before, during and after application of RF energy to the tissue, by one or more devices to determine an RF dose. After energy is applied to the tissue between the left and right electrodes, the left electrode can be removed from the left atrium by being received back into the delivery shaft and the delivery shaft thereafter removed from the opening.
