A household appliance such as a dishwasher, washing machine, stove and the like, with a base setback on the front thereof, in which the facing of the base setback is constructed from two wall plates, each of which may be shortened to a desired width. One of the wall plates extends in the plane of the front side of the appliance while the other wall plate is fastened to a lower edge zone of the first plate. The second wall plate extends parallel to the base of the appliance with its edge facing from the front resting against a base plate movable horizontally of the appliance. This permits varying the depth and height of a base setback of an appliance in a simple efficient manner to match the base setback of adjacent cabinets.

The invention is directed to a blended material and method for obtaining thermal barriers for high temperature cycling applications that have both high sintering resistance to achieve a high service lifetime and low thermal conductivity to achieve high operating temperatures. These materials are additionally suited for use in high temperature abradable (rub seal) coatings. The invention provides desired coating structures so that the changes in the coating microstructure over the in-service lifetime are either limited or beneficial.

An improved method of forming an abradable thermal barrier coating comprises providing a spray-dried powder of M-CrAlY and a solid lubricant, such as CoNiCrAlY—BN. Unlike powders provided for use with plasma spray guns, the powder is essentially free of polyester or other organic fugitive additives provided to increase porosity. The powder is applied using a combustion spray process and results in a M-CrAlY abradable coating that has an average porosity comparable to that of a plasma-applied coating but with smaller and more uniform pore distribution, and without requiring post-application heat treatments to remove fugitive materials. Deposition efficiency is also increased.

A process for cutting at least one surface of a workpiece wherein a face milling cutter is used in working the surface in both pulling and pushing cuts and wherein the camber angle as measured with respect to the normal to said surface is maintained at a constant value during both pulling and pushing cuts. A face milling cutter adapted for use in both pushing and pulling cuts and used in the process has an angle of rotation with a selected chamber angle. The cutting face has inside and outside cutting edges which define a polygonal cutting edge geometry and intersect at a selected angle of intersection. The angle of intersection has a line of bisection which as measured with respect to the axis defines an inclination angle generally corresponding to the chamber angle.
