Abstract: One embodiment is directed to an adapter entity comprising a Technical Report 069 (TR-069) protocol automatic configuration server (ACS) module configured to communicate with managed equipment included in a radio access network (RAN) using the TR-069 protocol. The adapter entity further comprises a Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) server configured to communicate with an Open Network Automation Platform (ONAP) Software Defined Network Radio instance (SDN-R) of an ONAP management and orchestration (MANO) environment using NETCONF. The adapter entity further comprises a TR-069-to-NETCONF mapper module, communicatively coupled to the TR-069 protocol ACS module and the NETCONF server, configured to dynamically map NETCONF requests and responses to and from TR-069 Protocol requests and responses. The adapter entity is configured to dynamically map NETCONF requests and responses to and from TR-069 Protocol requests and responses. Other embodiments and examples are disclosed.

Abstract: A cloud radio access network (C-RAN) includes a plurality of remote units (RUs), each with a wireless transceiver to exchange RF signals with at least one UE. The C-RAN also includes a central controller communicatively coupled to the plurality of RUs via a fronthaul comprising one or more ETHERNET switches. The central controller is communicatively coupled to an activation server via a backhaul network. The central controller also includes at least one processor configured to, following initial power up, establish a connection to the activation server indicated by activation server information pre-configured on the central controller. The at least one processor is also configured to receive a commissioning package, which includes commissioning information, from the activation server. The at least one processor is also configured to configure the central controller based on the commissioning information.

Abstract: A distributed radio access network (RAN) includes a new radio unit (RU) being connected to a front-haul network. The new RU determines its own Internet Protocol (IP) address based on its MAC address; and send a discovery message to all radio controllers in the front-haul network via a multicast address. The distributed RAN also includes a plurality of radio controllers communicatively coupled to the new RU via the front-haul network. Each of the plurality of radio controllers are configured to receive the discovery message and determine whether the new RU is assigned to the respective radio controller. Each of at least one radio controller, to which the new RU is assigned, establishes at least one configuration session with the new RU.

Abstract: A Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) communication system is provided. The CBRS communication system includes at least one baseband controller communicatively coupled to a spectrum access system (SAS) that allocates radio frequency (RF) channels in the CBRS communication system. The at least one baseband controller is communicatively coupled to at least one radio point (RP) using a switched ETHERNET network. Each of the at least one RP implements at least one Citizens Broadband Radio Service device (CBSD) that is communicatively coupled to the SAS and configured to provide wireless service to user equipment (UEs) using one or more of the RF channels allocated by the SAS.

Abstract: Systems and methods for orchestrating a virtualized 5G gNB are provided. In one example, a system for orchestrating wireless service includes a scalable cloud environment configured to implement a base station using a plurality of virtualized base station entities. Each virtualized base station entity of the plurality of virtualized base station entities configured to implement at least some functions for one or more layers of a wireless interface used to communicate with UEs. The scalable cloud environment further configured to implement a service orchestration tool including one or more interfaces configured to receive common configuration parameters that are applicable to multiple sites of an operator and to receive site-specific configuration parameters that are unique to respective sites of the operator. The service orchestration tool configured to automatically generate deployment files for the plurality of virtualized base station entities based on the common configuration parameters and the site-specific configuration parameters.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automatic X2-U/Xn-U link selection are provided herein. In one example, a method includes determining whether a local communication link between a first base station (FBS) and a second base station (SBS) is possible. In response to determining that the local communication link is possible, the method includes sending a request, including a local IP address for a FBS BBU, to the SBS for an address suitable for establishing a communication link. The method includes determining whether to include a local IP address for an SBS BBU in a response to the request. In response to determining to include the local IP address for the SBS, the method includes sending the response, including the local IP address for the SBS BBU to the FBS. The method includes establishing the local communication link between the FBS and SBS using the local IP addresses without using a security gateway.

The multi-carrier radio point is configured so that some of the processing and hardware resources provided by the radio point can be assigned to baseband units (BBUs) in a flexible manner. A single multi-carrier radio point can be used with multiple BBUs, where the processing and hardware resources used for the multiple BBUs need not be configured and used in the same way.

In one embodiment, a system for obtaining PKI credentials for a remote unit for a wireless base station, the system comprises: a remote unit, the remote unit configured to implement a radio frequency (RF) interface; a gateway coupled to the remote unit, the gateway communicatively coupled to an online provision service (OPS) certificate authority (CA); wherein the gateway is configured to generate an AuthToken unique to the remote unit, wherein the remote unit is configured to request a RU digital certificate and private key from an OPS CA based on the AuthToken.
