Abstract: A glass composition is provided wherein the composition exhibits wavelength independent scattering of visible light. The glass composition may comprise a spontaneously opalizing glass composition. The glass composition may comprise a fusion formable ceramic glass composition. The glass composition comprises crystals having a size greater than or equal to 1 μm. A targeted total transmittance value of the glass composition is 50% to 80%. The glass composition is configured for use as a light diffuser for a backlit display panel. The glass composition is configured such that the light diffuser appears white in transmission. A light diffuser for a backlit display panel is provided. The light diffuser may comprise a laminate comprising a core layer comprising a clear glass, and a clad layer comprising a fusion formable ceramic glass composition. The laminate may comprise a double fusion laminate.

Abstract: A colored glass article may include 50-80 mol % SiO2; 7-20 mol % Al2O3; 1-35 mol % R2O, wherein R2O comprises at least one of Li2O, Na2O, and K2O; 1×10−6-10 mol % of a colorant, wherein the colorant comprises at least one of Cr2O3, Au, Ag, CuO, NiO, Co3O4, TiO2, CeO2; and 12-24 mol % of Al2O3+MgO+CaO+ZnO. The colored glass article may have a transmittance color coordinate in the CIELAB color space with an L* value of 55 to 96.5. The colored glass article may have a compressive stress profile with a depth of compression ≥0.15 t a thickness t from 0.4 mm-5 mm, a compressive stress ≥200 MPa, and a central tension ≥60 MPa. The colored glass article may have a dielectric constant from 5.6 to 6.4 over the frequency range from 10 GHz to 60 GHz.

Abstract: Colored glass articles and methods for making the same are described herein. In embodiments, a colored glass article may include 50 mol. % to 70 mol. % SiO2; 10 mol. % to 20 mol. % Al2O3; 4 mol. % to 10 mol. % B2O3; 7 mol. % to 17 mol. % Li2O; 1 mol. % to 9 mol. % Na2O; 0.01 mol. % to 1 mol. % SnO2; and 0.01 mol. % to 5 mol. % Ag. The difference between R2O and Al2O3(R2O—Al2O3) may be greater than 0.2 mol. % and less than or equal to 5.00 mol. % where R2O is the sum of Li2O, Na2O, and K2O.

Abstract: A laminate glass-ceramic article is provided that includes: a core glass layer having a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE); and a plurality of clad glass-ceramic layers, each having a CTE that is lower than or equal to the first CTE of the core glass layer. A first of the clad glass-ceramic layers is laminated to a first surface of core glass layer and a second of the clad glass-ceramic layers is laminated to a second surface of the core glass layer. Further, a total thickness of the plurality of clad glass-ceramic layers is from about 0.05 mm to about 0.5 mm. In addition, each of the glass-ceramic layers includes: an alumino-boro-silicate glass, 0 mol %≤MoO3≤15 mol %, and 0 mol %≤WO3≤15 mol %, the WO3 (mol %) plus the MoO3 (mol %) is from 0.7 mol % to 19 mol %.
