摘要： A method is provided for a multifunctional printing system in which a plurality of jobs are placed in a queue in anticipation of processing the same. The queue, over time, receives jobs of at least a first user type and a second user type. In operation, first and second jobs of the first user type are placed in the queue. When a third job is ready for placement into the queue, a determination as to whether the third job is of the first user type or the second user type is made. If the third job is of the first user type, then it is processed subsequent to the processing of both the first and second jobs; however, if the third job is of the second user type, then the third job is processed ahead of at least the second job.

摘要： A method is provided for a multifunctional printing system in which a first job, developed at a first service, and a second job, developed at a second service are placed in a queue for processing. A first value is assigned to the first job and a second value is assigned to the second job, with the first and second values varying in magnitude as a function of the first and second services. In practice, the first job is placed in the queue and a portion thereof is processed. Subsequently, the second job is placed in the queue and processing of the first job is interrupted by the second job if the second value is greater in magnitude than the first value.

摘要： A method for a sheet handling system where a controller communicates with a mailbox bin subsystem having a plurality of print receiving bins is provided. The plurality of bins are grouped into a first print receiving bin set, a second print receiving bin set and a third print receiving bin set with the first print receiving bin set including one or more print receiving bins, the second print receiving bin set including one or more print receiving bins and the third print receiving bin set including one or more print receiving bins. A first bin access designator is assigned to each print receiving bin of the first print receiving bin set, a second bin access designator is assigned to each print receiving bin in the second print receiving bin set and a third bin access designator is assigned to each print receiving bin in the third print receiving bin set--the first, second and third bin access designators correspond respectively with a first user class type, a second user class type and a third user class type. A request is communicated to and read by the controller. In response to such reading, the one or more produced prints are delivered to one or more print receiving bins in one or more of the first, second and third print receiving bin sets.

The mailbox bin subsystem includes a print receiving bin set with a plurality of print receiving bins, the plurality of print receiving bins being corresponded with a set of bin users. The control system includes a user interface with which one or more print receiving bins of the plurality of print receiving bins are assigned to one of the bin set users, and a controller communicating with the mailbox bin subsystem. In practice the controller: (1) determines, for the one bin set user, a frequency of use value varying as a function of a degree to which the one bin set user uses the one or more print receiving bins to which the one bin set user is assigned, and (2) reassigns one of the one or more print receiving bins to which the one bin set user is assigned when the frequency of use value drops below a preselected threshold and a selected condition is met.

The apparatus includes a user interface, with a display screen, for selectively programming the job with plural print related attributes, wherein selected ones of the print related attributes affecting a time required to print the job. The apparatus further includes a memory for storing the image data and the print related attributes as well as a processor for generating an estimated time to print value for each of the plural electronic pages based on the selected attributes programmed during said programming which affect the time required to print the job, the estimated time to print generating being performed prior to printing the job. In operation, the processor sums the values generated with the estimated time to print generating for obtaining a total estimated time to print, wherein the representation of the total estimated time to print is displayed on the display screen.

The server is further adapted to apply the job ticket to the print job and transmit a print file including the print job and the job ticket to an image forming device when a print job request is received.

摘要： A method and apparatus for prioritizing the use of multifunctional printing system's basic processing resources to allow a high priority job to gain immediate access to a shared resource. The printing system employs a controller with an improved job contention manager (JCM). A plurality of basic resources of the printing system are provided with a queue. One or more job services, at desired times, provides a first signal to the JCM to carry out a sub-job of a given job. The signal for each of the sub-jobs includes information about the respective sub-job and its priority. Responsive to the signal from the job service the JCM adds a corresponding basic resource sub-job to the queues of each basic resource which the added sub-job will require to perform the sub-job. The resources are reassigned by the JCM according to the priority of the added sub-job in the queues. If the added sub-job is the highest priority sub-job in the queues then responsive to the reassignment of the basic resources processing of the sub-jobs is initiated.
