Abstract:
A method of operating an indicia reader for reading information bearing indicia (IBI) positioned in a field of view of the reader includes: transmitting a first laser light beam adapted for scanning an IBI on a target located a first distance from the indicia reader; transmitting a second laser light beam adapted for scanning an IBI on a target located a second distance greater than the first distance from the indicia reader; activating at least one of the first and second laser light beams; scanning at least one of the laser light beams with a flat unitary scan mirror to generate at least one of a first laser light beam pattern and a second laser light beam pattern; directing light reflected from the target from either the first or second laser light beams patterns through a common receive path; the common receive path including being reflected with the flat unitary scan mirror onto a focusing mirror; the focusing mirror directing reflected light along a directed reflected light path; the directed reflected light path including an optical filter outputting directed reflected light; converting the directed reflected light into an output signal with a photodetector; decoding IBI information derived from the output signal, wherein the operating steps are completed by devices supported in a hand held indicia reader housing and wherein an operator selectively activates the first laser light beam and/or the second laser light beam with a single action trigger.
Abstract:
In one embodiment of the disclosure, an apparatus is provided for preparing a cassette spool. The apparatus includes: a supply reel for supplying and unrolling tape material on original backing paper; at least one cutting member for cutting unrolled tape material while on original backing paper; at least one removing member for removing uncut unrolled tape material from original backing paper; an identification member for identifying on unrolled original backing paper a start of unrolled cut tape material; and a cassette spool for rolling up unrolled cut tape material on original backing paper. In further embodiments, methods are provided for preparing a cassette spool with cut tape material on original backing paper.
Abstract:
A telescoping slide rail assembly includes a stationary slide rail including a wall having an outer surface, the stationary slide rail adapted for engaging a pair of uprights in a rack at opposing ends of the stationary slide rail wall. The telescoping slide rail assembly further includes a mounting slide rail operatively coupled to the stationary slide rail so that the mounting slide rail is movable relative to the stationary slide rail between a fully extended position and a fully retracted position. A reinforcing element is connected to the outer surface of the wall, and a mounting element adapted for operative coupling with one of the uprights of the rack that is operatively coupled to the reinforcing element for movement between a first operative position and a second operative position.
Abstract:
A weapons system is disclosed that provides hot-start navigational information to the Global-Positioning-System receivers on missiles prior to flight. The system comprises a Global-Positioning-System receiver that uses a classified red cryptographic key to decode the P(Y) signal from one or more of the Global-Positioning-System constellation of satellites. Once the P(Y) signal is decoded, one or more characteristics (e.g., the PRN code synchronization, the Doppler shift, the modulation bit sequence, etc.) of the signal is derived. These characteristics of the signal—and some other information including a black cryptographic key that comprises the red cryptographic key—are then provided to the Global-Positioning-System receivers on missiles prior to flight. By giving the missiles this information, the missiles are able to acquire the P(Y) signals themselves more quickly than they otherwise could, which enables them to determine their position more quickly than they otherwise could.
Abstract:
An iontophoretic material is provided that uses controlled electrical current derived from two dissimilar galvanic materials to drive oligodynamic metal ions into solution to kill microorganisms on and near the material. Iontophoretic structures or material associated with a medical device are partially or completely covered with one or more covering layers that alter physical, mechanical, chemical, or biological properties of the device and/or the iontophoretic material. In addition to being partially coated or completely enveloped by iontophoretic material or structures, all or a portion of a medical device can be integrated with, impregnated by, or fabricated from an iontophoretic material.
Abstract:
A golf club head comprising a main body portion formed by an investment casting of a first metallic material; a face plate formed of a second high-strength metallic material; and structure including fasteners joining the periphery of the face plate to ledges on the main body portion to form a high strength, face plate for the golf club head.
Abstract:
A data decoding system can comprise one or more computers communicatively coupled to a network. The computers can execute at least one decoding process. The decoding process can be configured, responsive to receiving a decoding request comprising an image of decodable indicia, to locate the decodable indicia within the image, and to decode the decodable indicia into a decoded message. The decoding process can be further configured, responsive to completing a decoding operation, to transmit to the client the decoded message and/or the decoding operation completion code.
Abstract:
There is described a focusing apparatus having a deformable membrane that at least partially defines a cavity and an optical fluid disposed in the cavity. An actuator assembly can be provided for imparting a force to the deformable membrane. In one embodiment, the actuator assembly can include a piezoelectric actuator.
Abstract:
A rail conveyor system comprises a base member supporting a rail conveyor mechanism that includes a mechanical power transfer assembly mounted within the base member. A plurality of parallel support rods mounted upon the base member is rotatable by the mechanical power transfer assembly. A plurality of parallel square tubes rests perpendicularly to and upon the support rods providing a uniform support surface above the base member. The tubes are operatively connected to the power transfer assembly for sequential, longitudinal reciprocation, perpendicular to the support rods. The support rods each include a series of indented surfaces for sequentially lowering one of the tubes relative to three adjacent tubes. The mechanical power transfer assembly provides sequential, longitudinal movement of three adjacent tubes in one direction and movement of a fourth bracketed tube in an opposite direction, while simultaneously rotating the support rods to first lower, then raise the opposite moving fourth bracketed tube.
