    摘要: An imaging system in a hospital includes plural diagnostic units each having a picture filing memory in which medical picture data of patients are stored. The memories are located in the diagnostic units at dispersed locations in the hospital. Each diagnostic unit includes a retrieval unit by which image data can be retrieved from the respective memory. A network interconnects the diagnostic unit and permits transmission of image data among the diagnostic units.

    摘要: An image compression apparatus has a separation section for performing processing for dividing image data into a plurality of data blocks, an orthogonal transformer for orthogonal-transforming each data block, a bit allocation table for storing data representing the number of bits allocated in accordance with the frequency component of the orthogonal-transformed data output from the orthogonal transformer, an arithmetic operation circuit for calculating an amplitude probability density function of an identical frequency component of the orthogonal-transformed image data for each pixel, and calculating a quantization limit band causing a mean square error to be minimized in acordance with the calculating amplitude probability density function and the bit-number data from the bit allocation table, and a band limit table for storing the quantization limit band data. A quantizing circuit quantizes the orthogonal-transformed block information from the orthogonal transformer in accordance with the data stored in the allocation table and the band limit table.

    摘要: A picture archiving communication system for medical application includes least one work station, a data base, including a low-speed recording medium and a high-speed recording medium, for storing image data collected by a diagnosing apparatus unit. When a transfer command for desired image data is sent from the work station to the data base, the image data from the image data registered in the data base is read-out to the work station. A migration processing unit copies image data stored in the low-speed recording medium to the high-speed recording medium in the data base. A file management unit is provided, including a management table for storing a migration index number corresponding to at least one image data in the high-speed recording medium, which was subjected to the migration processing, and including a record indicating whether the image data stored in the high-speed recording medium was accessed after the migration processing. This system may further determine whether the image data stored in the high-speed recording medium from the management table has been accessed, and, if the image data has been accessed, deleting the image data from the high-speed recording medium from the earliest accessed one.
