Abstract: Hybrid overlay management server (HOMS) that manages a service of hybrid overlay network (HON) and a method of operating the HOMS are disclosed. The method includes: receiving a creation request for creating an HON and a service from a peer of a service owner; creating the HON and creating service information of the service; transmitting the service information to the peer of the service owner; receiving a join request for joining the HON and the service from a peer of a service user who intends to use the service; and verifying an access right of the service user, allowing the join request, and transmitting the service information to the peer of the service user, wherein the HON is a peer-to-peer overlay network over which joined peers exchange data, and the service is provided to the peer of the joined service user through the HON.

Abstract: Disclosed is a display device connection method for rapidly delivering data to a plurality of display devices. A peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay network including the plurality of display devices as member peers is configured to distribute content. In this case, an overlay management server (OMS) connects first member peers through a network as a tree topology using a source peer providing the content as a root node, and transmits fragments of the content to a child peer based on a number of peers to which each of the member peers is capable of transmitting the fragments of the content for a preset period of time, and the source peer directly transmits the fragments of the content to a second member peer that is not included in the tree topology among the member peers based on a predetermined limit on a hop count.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of adjusting a starting point of a peer, the method including receiving a starting point value and a downloading point value of a counterpart peer from the counterpart peer, determining an initial starting point value of a peer based on the received starting point value and the received downloading point value, calculating a ratio between an average play point move rate (APMR) of the peer and an average fragment reception rate of the peer when the determined initial starting point value is less than the received starting point value, calculating a margin based on the calculated ratio, and determining the starting point value of the peer using one of the received starting point value and the received downloading point value, and the calculated margin.

Abstract: In a multi-source hybrid overlay network including a plurality of peers, an apparatus that recovers missing data occurring in a tree recovery process, acquires data that a peer does not have in a pull method through exchanging buffer maps with a first counterpart peer connected to a primary path recovered in the tree recovery process and at least one second counterpart peer connected to at least one candidate path, and provides data that the first counterpart peer does not have to the first counterpart peer in the push method, when a data recovery policy is a pull method, is provided.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are an in-network caching apparatus and method. The in-network caching method using the in-network caching apparatus includes receiving content from a second node in response to a request from a first node; checking a Conditional Leave Copy Everywhere (CLCE) replication condition depending on a number of requests for the content; checking a priority condition based on a result value of a priority function for the content; checking a partition depending on the number of requests for the content; performing a cache replacement operation for the content depending on a result of checking the partition for the content; and transmitting the content to the first node.
