Abstract:
Aqueous fabric softening composition having good high temperature stability comprising a cationic fabric softening compound and water soluble polysaccharide polymers comprising hydrophobic groups selected from aryl, alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl each having at least 14 carbon atoms and cationic quaternary ammonium salt groups such that the cationic degree of substitution is from 0.01 to 0.2, the polymers having a molecular weight in the range from 100,000 to 700,000.
Abstract:
Personal care compositions an emulsion has an oil phase, a water phase, and a mixed hydrophobe, non-ionic, water-soluble, hydrophobically modified polysaccharide composition comprising a non-ionic water-soluble polysaccharide backbone having at least one C3-C8 short chain hydrophobic group and at least one C9-C24 long chain hydrophobic group attached thereon. This emulsion can be used in a variety of end use applications including textiles, leather, metal treatments, food, pharmaceuticals, paints, agricultural chemicals, polymerization, cleaning and polishing applications, and ore and petroleum recovery. In particular the emulsion is of use in personal care formulation where the emulsion is a component of a vehicle system of the formulation. At least one active personal care ingredient or electrolytes is also present.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a personal care composition additive for use on keratin substrates in order to provide long lasting benefits to the keratin substrate such as in conditioning systems, such as 2/1 shampoo's, leave-on and rinse off conditioners, for hair and skin, or for imparting greater water resistance to such personal care compositions as sunscreens or cosmetics.
Abstract:
A process is provided for preparing an acrylic copolymer latex having improved mechanical and shear stability comprising emulsion polymerizing at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer having up to 23 carbons in the presence of, by weight based on the total monomer content, a) from about 0.05% to about 5.0% of a protective colloid with a molecular weight of less than 75,000, and b) from about 0.01% to about 1.5% of at least one water soluble free radical polymerization initiator. This latex provides coating manufacturers the flexibility of either eliminating surfactants altogether from coating or to use small amounts thereof.
