Abstract:
Systems and methods for detecting personal distress and gesture commands in security video are provided. Some methods can include receiving a sequence of images from a video device monitoring a secured area, analyzing the sequence of images to detect a presence of a human in the sequence of images, when the presence of the human is detected in the sequence of images, analyzing the sequence of images to detect one of a plurality of contexts that requires action in the sequence of images, and when the one of the plurality of contexts that requires the action is detected in the sequence of images, transmitting a signal to execute the action. Each of the plurality of contexts can include an act performed by the human or a condition of the human irrespective of the human being in motion or being stationary.

A regional monitoring system includes speech recognition circuitry having smart filtering capability to interpret speech input from a user to provide interactions between the user and the system. Received voice commands can be filtered using key words to interpret security commands which can then be executed. The system can provide audible feedback using one or more of prerecorded voice data files or synthesized speech.

A method and apparatus including providing a plurality of security systems, each detecting threats within a different respective secured geographic area and each reporting detected threats to a central monitoring station, a human user of a first of the plurality of security systems sending a notification to an authorized human user of a second of the plurality of security systems through the central monitoring station, the notification authorizing control of the first security system by the user of the second security system, in response to the notification, the central monitoring station forming a control connection between the first and second security systems and the user of the second security system controlling the first security system through a user interface of the second security system

A multi-mode thermostat includes a sensor of ambient temperature and control circuits coupled to the sensor, wherein the control circuits are responsive to signals from the sensor to maintain a predetermined regional temperature. First electrically actuated backup circuits are responsive to a firt sensed operational power level to alter a status signal transmission rate by the control circuits. Second electrically actuated backup circuits are responsive to a lower sensed operational power level to provide a backup, lower regional temperature electromechanically.
