Embodiments of the present invention disclose a communication method, a source base station, a target base station, a core network device, and a terminal device, where the method includes: sending, by a source base station, a handover request to a target base station, where the handover request is used to request to hand over a session of a terminal device from the source base station to the target base station, and the handover request includes an identifier of a session requested to be handed over and indication information of a network slice corresponding to the session; and receiving, by the source base station, a handover response message from the target base station.

This application provides a communication method and apparatus, to help a terminal device obtain a better service. The method includes: sending, by an access network device, an initial user equipment UE message to a core network device; and receiving, by the access network device, an initial context setup request message sent by the core network device, where the initial context setup request message includes first information, and the first information is used to indicate at least one network slice preferentially used by a terminal device.

According to a synchronization method and apparatus provided in this application, a source station sends location information of the source station; and after obtaining a signal propagation delay that is calculated according to the location information of the source station and location information of a to-be-synchronized station, the to-be-synchronized station performs synchronization with the source station according to a synchronization reference time obtained by subtracting the propagation delay from a receiving time of a first network reference signal received from the source station. It can be learned that, in a process in which the to-be-synchronized station performs synchronization with the source station, the signal propagation delay between the to-be-synchronized station and the source station is used to compensate for the receiving time of the first network reference signal. Therefore, the consumed propagation delay can be subtracted from the synchronization reference time, so that synchronization accuracy is improved.
