Abstract: A heat exchanger includes a first fluid inlet, a first fluid outlet, a second fluid inlet, a second fluid outlet, and a core section. The core section includes a plurality of first fluid passages through which a first fluid is flowed, and a plurality of second fluid passages through which a second fluid is flowed to exchange thermal energy with the first fluid. The first fluid passages and the second fluid passages extend non-linearly along a length of the first fluid passages and the second fluid passages between a first core end and a second core end opposite the first core end. A manifold is operably connected to the plurality of first fluid passages. The manifold includes a plurality of lateral passages intersecting the plurality of first fluid passages. The plurality of lateral passages vary in length depending on distance from a fluidly upstream end of the core section.

Abstract: A fluid manifold includes an inlet comprising an opening into an interior of the fluid manifold, an outlet end that is positioned opposite the inlet and that is in fluid communication with the inlet, a shroud extending between the inlet and the outlet end and surrounding a flow path of the fluid manifold, and a first flow distributor positioned within the interior of the fluid manifold. The first flow distributor includes a hollow body including a first surface at a downstream side of the first flow distributor and a second surface at an upstream side of the first flow distributor, a central cavity defined by the second surface of the hollow body, and openings extending from the first surface to the second surface such that a fluid can pass from the central cavity through the openings. The first flow distributor and the fluid manifold are integrally formed.

Abstract: A multi-waste processing system includes a processing chamber. The processing chamber includes one or more heaters and a piston, and the processing chamber is configured to evaporate liquid waste and compact solid waste input. A condenser is operably connected to the processing chamber. The condenser is configured to condense water from the evaporated liquid waste output from the processing chamber. A gas and water separator is operably connected to the condenser. The gas and water separator is configured to separate water from the evaporated liquid waste output from the processing chamber. A recirculation pathway connects the gas and water separator to the processing chamber to recirculate gas from the gas and water separator to the processing chamber. The piston is actuated to keep the one or more heaters in close proximity to the solid waste and the liquid waste in the processing chamber.

Abstract: A heat exchanger and a method of assembling the heat exchanger involve a monolithic main body extending along an axis from a first end to a second end. The heat exchanger includes a plurality of flow channels to channel a first material from an inlet to an outlet. Each of the plurality of flow channels traverse a spiral flow path from the inlet at a center of the main body to the outlet at an exterior surface of the main body, and the plurality of flow paths are aligned along the axis. The heat exchanger also includes a plurality of passages to hold a second material, each passage extending along the axis from the first end to the second end. A first side and a second side, opposite the first side, of each of the passages is defined by the spiral flow path of the plurality of flow channels.

Abstract: A heat exchanger has an outer shell enclosing an inner chamber and extending between a first inlet and a first outlet. The chamber receives a separating wall. The shell extends between axial ends, and generally along a helix. The helix is defined with the wall moving in a continuous manner along a first axial direction and with a circumferential component between the first inlet and the first outlet. A plurality of tubes extend through openings in the separating wall and generally along a helix. The plurality of tubes extend from a second inlet and a second outlet, and with the helix defined along the first axial direction and with a component in a circumferential direction. A method and a temperature control system are also disclosed.
