    摘要: A yarn traversing apparatus is disclosed, which is adapted for use in winding a running yarn to form a cross wound package. The traversing apparatus includes a yarn guide bar, and a pair of oppositely rotating rotors, and the rotors include radiating arms which define two closely adjacent planes of rotation. The rotors are mounted for rotation about offset axes, so that the arms sweep across the guide bar in opposite directions to define the yarn traverse stroke. The rotors are rotatably driven by a gear drive system which includes a transmission shaft, and the transmission shaft and one of the rotors are mounted in eccentric bushings which permit the meshing gears to be adjusted so as to eliminate backlash.

    摘要: A yarn winding apparatus is disclosed which is characterized by the ability to wind a plurality of running yarns onto a corresponding number of bobbins mounted on a common support spindle, and wherein the bobbins may be closely spaced apart to thereby permit the required length of the support spindle to be minimized. The apparatus comprises a plurality of side by side traversing assemblies extending along the length of the bobbin support spindle, with each traversing assembly comprising a yarn guide bar and a pair of oppositely rotating rotors. The rotors are each composed of two oppositely directed radial arms, which define two closely adjacent planes of rotation. The two rotors of each assembly are mounted for rotation about off-set axes, and such that the arms sweep across the guide bar in opposite directions to define the traverse stroke. Also, the two axes of all of the traversing assemblies are offset in the same direction, with the corresponding axes of all of the adjacent traversing assemblies being equally spaced apart a predetermined distance, and such that the extremities of the arms of adjacent traversing assemblies define circles upon rotation thereof which overlap in both of the planes of rotation.

    摘要: An apparatus for the winding of continuous threads or yarns in which at least one chuck is provided, having a spool stop mounted thereon, on which at least one removable spool sleeve may be slidably positioned for thread take-up. The end surface of the spool sleeve has a lug formed on it which provides a defined spacing between the sleeve and stop when the sleeve is slid over the chuck. A means for cutting the continuous thread is located on the chuck in the space formed between the sleeve and stop. In the cutting operation, the thread is always presented to the cutting means at a constant, repeatable angle due to the action of the spool lug and a thread-catching notch formed on the end surface of the sleeve in a preferred embodiment of the invention. Furthermore, multiple spools may be mounted on the chuck in accordance with the teachings of the present invention in order to provide for increased efficiency of the winding operation.

    摘要: The present yarn winding apparatus and method includes a yarn traversing mechanism, a pair of rotatably supported winding spindles, spaced apart main and auxiliary contact rolls, and a rotatable turret supporting said winding spindles in opposed relationship thereon. The turret rotates the winding spindles for successive movement into an operational position where one of the winding spindles is in engagement with the main contact roll and the other winding spindle is positioned out of engagement with both rolls and in position for yarn packages to be doffed therefrom. The turret also rotates the winding spindles into a yarn transfer position at which the winding spindle with full yarn packages thereon is in engagement with the auxiliary contact roll so that the yarn may be transferred from the full yarn packages to the empty tubes on the other winding spindle. In one embodiment, the spindles are rotatably driven by the contact rolls, and in another embodiment the contact rolls monitor the winding speed of the spindles and the spindles are rotatably driven by separate drive motors.

In order to achieve a precise guidance of the yarn onto the package, the first yarn traverse means defines a guide stroke which extends beyond each of the ends of the traverse stroke defined by the grooved roller. In addition, the guide rail and/or the arms include means for guiding the yarn adjacent each of the ends of the guide stroke such that the yarn is free to rapidly rebound a short distance toward the center of the stroke, and is then restrained during movement through a second traverse distance.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for serially winding a high speed running yarn onto bobbins without yarn stoppage between bobbin changes, and without loss of yarn. The method and apparatus includes at least two bobbin receiving chucks which are adapted to be serially delivered to a winding position. When the first bobbin becomes full, it moves laterally away from the yarn traverse guide, and the chuck with an empty bobbin and an associated yarn catching notch is moved into the yarn path of travel while being rotated, and with the notch being positioned axially outside the yarn traverse stroke along the empty bobbin. The separated full bobbin, which continues to receive the yarn, is then moved axially so that an end portion is aligned with the plane of the yarn catching notch on the empty bobbin. An auxiliary yarn guide is then moved to engage the yarn and terminate its traverse. The auxiliary guide then moves the yarn into the plane of the yarn catching notch, and so that the yarn is wound on the axially extended end portion of the full bobbin, until the notch catches the yarn, at which point the yarn commences to be wound upon the rotating empty bobbin. The auxiliary yarn guide then releases the yarn so that it is caught and again traversed by the traverse guide.
