    摘要： Error detection/correction codes appended to a recording signal for a PCM recorder are so arranged as to ensure detection and/or correction of a dropout or error of a data block address in the reproduction of the recording signal. In recording digital signals on a recording medium, the digital signals are formatted in n-word blocks, each block further including a sync signal for providing a reference timing for the reproduction of the signal, control data related to the digital signals, a data block address for identifying the block of n-words, an error detection code for detecting an error in the control data and the block address, and an error detection/correction code for error detection and/or correction for the block address and the n-words. A recording system includes an error detection/correction code generating circuit which generates error detection/correction codes using a Reed Solomon code or b-adjacent code. The generated error detection/correction codes are combined by a multiplexer so that a recording signal is arranged, and recorded on the recording medium.

    摘要： This invention enhances usability while performing copy control when recording a digital broadcast program specified as “Copy One Generation”. In this copy control method, digital contents received by a first recording apparatus are copied to a second recording apparatus via a network interface and to a third recording apparatus via a local interface according to the copy control information received by the first recording apparatus. When the received control information indicates “Copy Free with Limit of the Number” permitting a predetermined copy number of multiple copies, the received digital contents can be recorded and managed in the first recording apparatus to be copied up to the predetermined copy number. The digital contents copied to the second recording apparatus are managed as “No More Copies”, and the digital contents copied to the third recording apparatus are managed as “No More Copies and No Move”.

When an output route in the case of copying digital contents from a first recording apparatus to a second recording apparatus is via LAN, authentication is executed between the first recording apparatus and the second recording apparatus. The capability of a move process with a predetermined copy number of multiple copies being kept is confirmed, and dedicated key information is shared to be used for encryption and decryption of the digital contents moved with the predetermined copy number of multiple copies being kept. Then, the digital contents recorded and managed in the first recording apparatus is added with the information about the predetermined copy number of multiple copies, and transmitted.
