摘要: A system includes processor units, caches, memory shared by the processor units, a system bus interface, and a cache snoop interfaces. Each processor unit has one of the caches. The system bus interface communicatively connects the processor units to the memory via at least the caches, and is a non-cache snoop system bus interface. The cache snoop interface communicatively connects the caches, and is independent of the system bus interface. Upon a given processor unit writing a new value to an address within the memory such that the new value and the address are cached within the cache of the given processor unit a write invalidation event is sent over the cache snoop interface to the caches of the processor units other than the given processor unit. This event invalidates the address as stored within any of the caches other than the cache of the given processor unit.

摘要: Disclosed is a method, system, and data structures for updating data in a storage device. An update to one or more blocks of customer data at addresses in the storage device is received. For each block of data to update, metadata is generated indicating the address of the block in the storage device and an error checking code that is capable of being used to determine whether the customer data in the block has changed. For each block of data to update, the block of data to update and the metadata for the block are written to cache. Further, for each block of data to update, the block of data and the metadata are transferred for the block from the cache to the storage device. The metadata may be used during power loss and recovery.

摘要: The user interface system provides a mouse for inputting a time segment by pointing to an arbitrary position of the display screen. Displayed in a window, the time segment has a position and length to indicate hours or days. The segment editor displays the segment according to the length which is designated by the mouse. Segments may be duplicated from one window to another. The database entry stores the position and length of the time segment. To avoid or lessen scrolling of time segment data, a window may divided either horizontally or vertically when desired data is located far apart. Multiple windows displayed on the screen may be scrolled synchronously in one direction and independently scrolled in the opposite direction. Windows with different scaled information may be display simultaneously and synchronously scrolled.

摘要: Disclosed is a method, system, program, and data structures for transferring data to a requesting application. A request is received for one or more blocks of data at contiguous addresses in a storage device. Each block of data includes customer data and metadata indicating the address of the block in the storage device and an error checking code that is capable of being used to determine whether the customer data in the block has changed. For each requested block, a determination is made as to whether the address of the block of data in the metadata and the requested address match. Further, for each requested block, an operation is performed on the customer data in the block and the error checking code to determine whether the customer data has changed. The requested block is transferred to the requesting application if the address of the block in the metadata and requested address match and the customer data has not changed.

摘要: The user interface system provides the input means for inputting a segment by pointing out an arbitrary position of the display screen with the input unit such as a mouse for pointing out arbitrary positions of the display screen. The segment has a position and a length to indicate hours or days. The segment editor displays the segment according to the length which is designated by the input unit such as a mouse. The database entry stores the data indicated by the position and the length of the segment as entered data. Thus, data is entered by inputting a segment. Therefore, data such as a time and a date are not needed to be entered from a keyboard. Since data entry is made by drawing a segment by using a mouse, operation is easy. Furthermore, since the length of the segment shows the hours or period visually to a system operator, the chances of errors are lessened. The user interface system provides a system to input additional information for a segment displayed by the segment editor. Consequently, detailed information which cannot be displayed merely by the segment is coped with in case such detailed information exists.
