摘要: To provide a light-emitting element and a light-emitting device which can be designed and manufactured with redundancy. A light-emitting element of the invention includes a pair of electrode, and a layer containing a light-emissive substance between the pair of electrodes. The layer containing a light-emissive substance includes a layer containing a composite material, and the layer containing a composite material includes an organic compound and an inorganic compound. The concentration ratio of the organic compound to the inorganic compound changes periodically. The layer containing a composite maternal can be changed in electrical characteristics without changing the composition ratio of the organic compound to the inorganic compound in the layer or changing the kind of compounds used for the layer.

摘要: A composite material includes an organic compound represented by the following general formula (1) and an inorganic compound, where, in the general formula (1), R1 to R24 is identical to or different from one another, and represent any of hydrogen, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an aryl group, and an arylalkyl group. A light emitting element includes the composite material and a light emitting device and an electronic appliance includes the light emitting element. The composite material has an excellent carrier transporting property and an excellent carrier injecting property with respect to the organic compound along with high visible light transmittance. By utilizing the composite material, a current excitation type light emitting element requiring low driving voltage and having excellent light emitting efficiency is obtained. By using the light emitting element, a light emitting device consuming low power and an electronic appliance including the light emitting device is provided.

摘要: A light emitting device comprises a pair of electrodes and a mixed layer provided between the pair of electrodes. The mixed layer contains an organic compound which contains no nitrogen atoms, i.e., an organic compound which dose not have an arylamine skeleton, and a metal oxide. As the organic compound, an aromatic hydrocarbon having an anthracene skeleton is preferably used. As such an aromatic hydrocarbon, t-BuDNA, DPAnth, DPPA, DNA, DMNA, t-BuDBA, and the like are listed. As the metal oxide, molybdenum oxide, vanadium oxide, ruthenium oxide, rhenium oxide, and the like are preferably used. Further, the mixed layer preferably shows absorbance per 1 μm of 1 or less or does not show a distinct absorption peak in a spectrum of 450 to 650 nm when an absorption spectrum is measured.

摘要: It is an object of the present invention to provide a functional layer for protecting a light emitting element from being deteriorated by a physical or chemical influence when the light emitting element is manufactured or driven, and to attain extension of lifetime of an element and improvement of element characteristics without increasing a drive voltage and degrading transmittance and color purity by providing such a functional layer. One feature of the present invention is to provide a buffer layer made of a composite material for a light emitting element including aromatic hydrocarbon containing at least one vinyl skeleton and metal oxide in part of a light emitting substance containing layer, in the light emitting element formed by interposing the light emitting substance containing layer between a pair of electrodes. The composite material for a light emitting element for forming the buffer layer of the present invention has high conductivity and is superior in transparency.

摘要: One aspect of the present invention is a light emitting element having a layer including an aromatic hydrocarbon and a metal oxide between a pair of electrodes. The kind of aromatic hydrocarbon is not particularly limited; however, an aromatic hydrocarbon having hole mobility of 1×10−6 cm2/Vs or more is preferable. As such aromatic hydrocarbon, for example, 2-tert-butyl-9,10-di(2-naphthyl)anthracene, anthracene, 9,10-diphenylanthracene, tetracene, rubrene, perylene, 2,5,8,11-tetra(tert-butyl)perylene, and the like are given. As the metal oxide, a metal which shows an electron-accepting property to the aromatic hydrocarbon is preferable. As such metal oxide, for example, molybdenum oxide, vanadium oxide, ruthenium oxide, rhenium oxide, and the like are given.
