Abstract: This application relates to a communication method and apparatus. An access network device receives first paging information from a core network device. The first paging information includes an identifier of a first terminal device, and further indicates a first group to which the first terminal device belongs. The access network device determines a second group corresponding to the first group and pages the first terminal device in a first paging manner corresponding to the second group. In embodiments of this application, terminal devices are grouped. Different paging manners may be used for terminal devices in different groups, so that power consumption of the terminal devices and a false alarm probability can be reduced.

Abstract: This application provides a paging message detection method and apparatus, and a communication device. A first access device determines a first resource when the first access device is to send a radio access network paging message to a first terminal device in an inactive state, where the first resource is to carry a first wake-up signal; and the first wake-up signal is to indicate the first terminal device to detect downlink control information for scheduling the paging message that is carried by a first paging occasion resource. The first access device sends the first wake-up signal to the first terminal device on the first resource. The first access device sends, on the first paging occasion resource, the downlink control information for scheduling the paging message. In this way, power consumption of the terminal device can be reduced, and electric energy can be saved.

Abstract: A multicast bearer management method includes: in a process of receiving service data of a single cell-multimedia broadcast multicast service traffic channel SC-MTCH, suspending a single cell-multimedia broadcast multicast service point to multipoint radio bearer SC-MRB corresponding to the SC-MTCH when there is a first type of data to be received; and when reception of the first type of data is completed, restoring or releasing the SC-MRB based on a temporary mobile group identity TMGI and/or a session identity corresponding to the SC-MRB. The technical solutions in the embodiments of the present invention can prevent frequent release and establishment of SC-MRBs, thereby saving network resources and power of a terminal device.
