Abstract:
A welding system includes a power source configured to generate power and deliver the power to a welding torch. The power is provided in accordance with an electrode negative pulse welding regime that includes a cyclic peak, followed by a stabilization phase, then a return to a background level. The stabilization phase has a generally parabolic current shape, and is performed in a current-closed loop manner until a transition point. Resulting weld performance is improved, with a globular-like transfer mode, reduced shorts and enhanced arc stability.
Abstract:
A system includes a welding torch assembly configured to establish a welding arc between an electrode and workpieces separated by a narrow groove utilizing power from a power supply while moving the electrode radially in a desired pattern by a motion control assembly within the welding torch assembly. The welding torch assembly includes a nozzle through which the electrode is fed and within which the electrode is radially moved.
Abstract:
A welding system includes components equipped with digital communications circuitry for synchronization and coordination of tasks associated with the welding operation. The tasks may be initiated and terminated independently or in coordination based upon synchronization of this circuitry. Certain of the tasks may be performed by the components in an open-loop manner or in a closed-loop manner based upon feedback of welding parameters. Moreover, certain tasks may be independent of one another, or interdependent although carried out in parallel by the different system component.

Abstract:
A welding operation is performed by moving or rotating an arc in a welding torch, and feeding a metal cored wire through the torch in a direct current, electrode negative welding process. The electrode may include one or more arc stabilizers. The welding process may be pulsed or non-pulsed. Moreover, the process may be used with a number of different base metals intended to be welded, such as thin plate, galvanized metals, painted metals, coated metals, and so forth.
