Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes: a plurality of scan lines and signal lines on one of a pair of substrates arranged to be opposed to each other with a liquid crystal layer sandwiched therebetween, the scan lines and signal lines extending in different directions; and an orientation film, pixel electrode, insulating layer and common electrode, the orientation film being rubbed in a rubbing direction having a given inclination with respect to a pixel arrangement direction. The pixel electrode is partitioned by the scan lines and signal lines and has subpixels made up of first and second regions. The first region has a plurality of slit-shaped openings having a given inclination in a first direction with respect to the rubbing direction. The second region has a plurality of slit-shaped openings having a given inclination in a second direction with respect to the rubbing direction.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a sensor-equipped display device includes first electrodes and a detection electrode. The first electrodes constitute sensor drive electrodes by being supplied with sensor drive signals separately and sequentially or sensor drive electrodes by simultaneously supplying the sensor drive signals to the first electrodes adjacent to each other. A width of the sensor drive electrode including the first electrode on the edge is smaller than a width of the other sensor drive electrode not including the first electrode on the edge.

Abstract: A performance of a display device having an input device is improved. A display device includes: an electro-optical layer; a first driving electrode and a second driving electrode which drives the electro-optical layer; a driver chip which outputs a video signal; a switch circuit which is arranged outside the driver chip, which selects a potential to be supplied to the second driving electrode, and which includes a first switch element and a second switch element; a shift register circuit connected to the switch circuit; and a detection circuit which detects that an object is close or in contact. Each of the first switch element and the second switch element is selectively turned ON or OFF by the shift register circuit. The detection circuit is electrically connected to the first switch element and the second switch element.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device with a touch detection function includes a display panel and a touch panel. The touch panel includes first electrodes extending in one direction. The display panel includes second electrodes interesting with the first electrodes in planar view and serving as common electrodes that supply a common potential to pixels in a display area. The display panel also includes pixel signal lines and scanning signal lines interesting with each other in planar view. The pixel signal lines and the scanning signal lines are made into a floating state in a touch detection period in which a first drive signal is applied to the first electrodes, and a second drive signal is applied to the second electrodes at predetermined intervals to perform touch detection based on change in voltage of the first electrodes and change in voltage of the second electrodes.

Abstract: A display device with a touch detection function includes a substrate, pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix in a display region on a plane parallel to the substrate, a display function layer having a function to display the image in the display region, drive electrodes provided facing the pixel electrodes, touch detection electrodes that form electrostatic capacitance between there and the drive electrodes, a control unit that generates a control signal to switch between a display operation period for applying a display signal between the pixel and drive electrodes and a display stop period for stopping the display operation. The control unit generates first and second control signals respectively having a first frequency and a second frequency that is different from the first frequency, and has first and second operation modes respectively including a period controlled by the first control signal and a period controlled by the second control signal.
