At least one image for observation is generated for each selected set of volume data for the specified subject. Layered images are generated by positioning and overlapping the generated plurality of images for observation. The layered images are arranged on a predetermined screen, and operations that move a point along a temporal axis on the screen are detected. The display of each image for observation that constitutes the layered image arranged on the screen is changed based on the detected operations.

Index values, such as stenosis rates and whether plaque is present, are calculated by analyzing the volume data. The calculated index values are converted to colors (RGB values) by referring to a conversion table. The condition display regions are displayed in colors according to the values of the index values.
