摘要: This application relates to performing certain dithering processes to eliminate display artifacts such as flicker, which can be caused by charge accumulation at the display. The dither process can be performed by a display controller that uses a group lookup method for identifying groups of dithering patterns that can be combined to expand a number of color values available to the display. The dither process can also be performed as a temporal process that incorporates groups of dithering patterns into frames and shifts a spatial arrangement of the groups of dithering patterns over a sequence of frames. Additionally, the dither process can incorporate counters that count the number of times a particular spatial arrangement of dithering patterns has been used in a sequence of frames in order that each spatial arrangement of dithering patterns will share an average count with other spatial arrangements over a sequence of frames.

摘要: A mobile electronic device includes a display having a pixel and processing circuitry separate from but communicatively coupled to the display. The processing circuitry prepares image data to send to the pixel and adjusts the image data to compensate for operational variations of the display based on feedback received from the display that describes a present operational behavior of the pixel. The mobile electronic device also includes additional electronic components that affect the present operational behavior of the pixel depending on present operational behavior of the additional electronic components.

摘要: A display device may include a processor that may receive image data, such that the image data may include gray level data and display brightness value (DBV) data for a first pixel of a display. The processor may then determine a gain compensation factor associated with the first pixel based on a correction spatial map, a brightness adaptation lookup table (LUT), the gray level data, and the DBV data. The processor may then determine an offset compensation factor associated with the first pixel based on the correction spatial map, the brightness adaptation lookup table (LUT), the gray level data, and the DBV data. The processor may generate compensated gray level data by applying the gain compensation factor and the offset compensation factor to the gray level data and transmit the compensated gray level data to pixel driving circuitry associated with the first pixel.

摘要: A display may have curved edges such as rounded corners. Pixels in the display may be controlled so that the active area of the display has the desired curved edge shape. In order to maximize the apparent smoothness of the curved edge, the display may include circuitry that dims some of the pixels based on their location relative to a spline for the curved edge. The display circuitry may include a multiplication circuit that receives image data as a first input and dimming factors from a gain table as a second input. The image data may include a brightness level for each pixel in the array of pixels. The multiplication circuit may multiply the brightness level for each pixel by its respective dimming factor. This modified image data may then be supplied to the imaging pixels using display driver circuitry.

摘要: A display device may include a display having a pixels and a processor. The processor may receive image data, determine a digital offset value for a pixel based on a location of the pixel, such that the digital offset value compensates for one or more non-uniformity properties of the pixel. The processor may determine a scale factor associated with the pixel based on at least two of a luminance setting for the display, a driving mode of the display, and a gray level value for the pixel. The processor may then generate correction image data by applying the scale factor to the digital offset value, generate compensated image data based on the correction image data and the image data, and provide the compensated image data to the display.

摘要: Systems and methods for improving perceived image quality of an electronic display, which includes a display region with a rounded border and a display pixel at a pixel position adjacent the rounded border. A display pipeline communicatively coupled to the electronic display receives first image data that indicates target luminance at the pixel position in a rectangular image frame; determines a gain value associated with the pixel position from a gain map, in which the gain value is inversely proportional to distance between the display pixel and the rounded border; determines second image data that indicates target luminance of the display pixel by processing the first image data based at least in part on the gain value; and outputs the second image data to the electronic display to facilitate displaying a non-rectangular portion of the image frame on the display region.

摘要: External compensation of display panels may employ measurement or sensing circuitry configured to measure the output of a pixel and compensate for variations. Due to effects from the sensing circuitry, a mismatch between a target current and the actual current in the pixel may occur. Systems and methods that compensate for the effects from sensing circuitry and reduce or mitigate the mismatch are described. Systems and methods described herein include compensation circuitry that is capable of employing correction factors to compensate for the effects due to the presence of sensing circuitry. Methods for determining the correction factor are also described.

Null data signals corresponding to the inactive notch region may be adjusted to have gray levels that gradually decrease with distance from the border between the inactive notch and the active area. All of the data signals corresponding to the inactive notch may be set to a uniform gray level.

摘要: Methods for mitigation of sensing error effects in display panels are disclosed. Display panels, such as pixel-based panels, may have circuitry to sense the luminance values, compare measurements with target luminance values, and provide corrections. Sensing errors, such as ones caused by sensor hysteresis and thermal fluctuations, may lead to overcorrections and visible artifacts. Mitigations schemes discussed herein include filtering of sensed signal with low pass filters, partial correction strategies, and feedforward sensing schemes. Circuitry that implements these schemes are also discussed.
