摘要: In a method for dynamically setting a content rate of a multimedia session for a client in a network, a proxy server receives a channel condition feedback message from a network controller and determines whether a receiver report message has been received from the client since a most recent previous channel condition feedback message. The channel condition feedback message includes current channel condition information for the network. The proxy server sends one of an extended feedback report message and a short feedback report message to a media server based on the determining step. The short feedback report message includes at least a maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session. The extended feedback report message includes at least information contained in the receiver report message. The extended feedback report message may, in addition, include the maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session.

摘要: In a method of tracking a user in a communication network supporting a broadcast-multicast service, the network classifies groups of users into tracking areas. Movement of a user may be tracked as the user crosses a boundary between two tracking areas in the network. The method may enable a balance to be achieved between use of uplink overhead and the level or granularity of tracking desired, so as to conserve radio resources.

摘要: Methods and systems for generating a variable spacing pulse position modulated (VSPPM) signal for transmission across an ultra-wideband communications channel. The variable pulse position modulated spread spectrum signal is created by encoding every M input data bits from an input data stream into a symbol consisting of Nc chips. Each chip is divided into 2M sub-chips and each sub-chip is further divided into Np time slots. A pulse is transmitted for each chip in the symbol. During each chip period, the pulse is placed in the sub-chip corresponding to the binary M-tuple (or symbol) value. A time hopping code sequence consisting of Nc elements with a one-to-one chip association is then applied to each symbol so that the position of each pulse is shifted to the appropriate time slot that corresponds to the time hopping code value.

摘要: A system for providing statistical multiplexing of speech, other real-time data services and non-real-time data services for point to point and point to multipoint communications. The system has fast access and assignment procedures that allow the multiplexing of real-time, delay-critical data services with non-real-time data services. Continuity of periodic control channels across speech talkspurt and silence periods for conversational voice is maintained to carry signal measurement reports, channel quality feedback, and “comfort” noise information between different parts of the system.

摘要: A method of triggering registration of a mobile station in a network supporting broadcast multicast services employs registration triggers based on flow conditions and frequency conditions. For example, a registration message may be generated based on a change in frequency, from a first frequency to a second frequency, that is monitored by the mobile station. If the second frequency is not known to the network based on flow identifier information previously registered by the mobile station with the network, a registration to the network is triggered. By sending a registration, the network may page a mobile station on a single, given frequency, since the registration message indicates the mobile station's presence on that given frequency.

摘要: In one embodiment, the method includes determining, at a receiver, a total average received power over N resource elements and the L antennas, where N and L are integers greater than or equal to 1. The method further includes determining, at the receiver, a first bias in a first estimate of average received power for a received desired signal based on the determined total average received power; and generating, at the receiver, a first refined estimate of the average received power for the received desired signal based on the first estimate and the determined first bias.
