An image forming apparatus is provided which can insert a test-printed sheet on an arbitrary page into an intended page. The image forming apparatus includes a test print selection portion, an original document reading portion, a test print page specification portion, a test print portion, a sheet set member, a print instruction portion and a print portion, where from image data on the read original document, overall page information, information specifying the page on which the test print is performed and detection information indicating that the test print page is set in the sheet set member, based on the instruction from the print instruction portion, the print portion performs the print while inserting the test print page into the intended page.

A printing system includes a management server and an image forming apparatus connected to each other via a network. The management server executes an authentication of a logged-in user of the image forming apparatus, manages a remaining quota and a temporary allowance, reserves the temporary allowance of the logged-in user, and provides a notification to the image forming apparatus of the reserved temporary allowance. The image forming apparatus provides a notification to the management server of a requested sheet count, executes printing within a range of the temporary allowance notified of by the management server, and provides a notification to the management server of a printed sheet count.

A printing system includes an image forming apparatus, a management server, and a print data transmission apparatus, each of which are coupled one another via a network. The print transmission apparatus transmits print data to the management server in association with a user. The image forming apparatus, including apparatus-supported setting data, (i) causes the management server to authenticate the user, and (ii) prints the print data. The management server (i) manages the print data transmitted from the print data transmission apparatus, (ii) performs authentication of the user, and changes the print data associated with the user to supported print data corresponding to the apparatus-supported setting data, and (iii) transmits the supported print data to the image forming apparatus, if the authentication of the user is successful.

The image forming apparatus includes a box configured to store data, a usage amount count unit, a threshold value storage unit, a comparison unit, a box search unit, a user interface unit, and a box migration unit. The usage amount count unit counts a usage amount for a user identification. The threshold value storage unit stores a threshold value associated with the usage amount. The comparison unit determines whether or not the usage amount is equal to or larger than the threshold value. The box search unit acquires, based on the usage amount and threshold, box identification information on the box corresponding to the user identification within another image forming apparatus. The box migration unit migrates data on the box within the other image forming apparatus to the box corresponding to the user identification within the image forming apparatus.

An image forming system includes a user terminal, a plurality of image forming apparatuses, and a document management server. The document management server: randomly determines the image forming apparatus as the spool destination of the print job and notifies the user terminal of the image forming apparatus when the document management server receives the print job information from the user terminal for the first time; and notifies the user terminal of the previously used image forming apparatus as the spool destination of the print job when the document management server receives the print job information from the user terminal at or after the second time. The image forming apparatus that has accepted a login request from a user confirms the spool destination of the print job determined by the document management server, reads the print job from the spool destination, and executes a printing process.
