Abstract: The instant disclosure is drawn to a hair treatment composition comprising: (a) one or more cyclic carbonates; (b) one or more amino-functionalized silicones; (c) one or more polysaccharides; (d) one or more nonionic associative polymeric thickeners; (e) one or more nonionic surfactants or emulsifiers; and (f) water. The weight ratio of the one or more cyclic carbonates to the one or more amino-functionalized silicones is typically from about 12:1 to 1:2. The compositions are useful as a leave-on product in methods for improving hair fiber alignment, reducing frizz, and imparting smoothness to the hair, while providing heat protection properties to the hair.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to hair styling compositions that exhibit non-Newtonian shear thinning behavior during use. The hair styling composition include: (a) one or more fatty amides, fatty alkanolamides, and/or alkoxylated fatty amides; (b) one or more non-hydroxy substituted fatty acids; (c) one or more hydroxy substituted fatty acids; (d) at least 70 wt. % of one or more low-polar oils; and less than 2 wt. % of water. Additional components such as, for example, alkoxylated polyol esters, water-soluble organic solvents, and other miscellaneous ingredients, can optionally be included in the hair styling compositions. The hair styling compositions are particularly useful for styling or shaping hair and for providing hold, discipline, and texture to hair.

The hair care compositions may include about 50 to about 90 wt. % of a polyol; about 0.1 to about 10 wt. % of fatty compounds, the fatty compounds comprising a carbonate and a fatty ether; about 10 to about 35 wt. % of a monoalcohol; and about 0.1 to about 5 wt. % of a cationic surfactant, wherein all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the hair composition. The hair care composition may be formulated to have a weight ratio of the total amount of carbonate to the total amount of fatty ether is about 3:1 to about 1:1.
