    摘要: Apparatus, and an associated method, that reduces the occurrence of generation of redundant requests for retransmission of packet-formatted data, formatted at a physical layer and at a higher-logical layer, such as at an RLP layer. An estimate of an appropriate delay period is formed. The estimate is responsive to communication conditions in the communication system. When a data packet appears to have been inadequately delivered to the RLP logical layer, a DELAY_DETECTION_WINDOW timer is caused to time out the delay period estimated by the estimator. The request for retransmission, generated at the RLP layer, is permitted, upon expiration of the timer if the data packet has not yet been successfully delivered to the RLP layer and the transmitter has not given up the data packet delivery.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for optimizing power consumption in a wireless device by determining optimal signal release timing are disclosed. An accumulated data volume of one or more data calls received and transmitted in a device is measured during a first time period in which the device is in a connected state. After this period, the accumulated data volume is compared to a data volume threshold. Based on this comparison, a second time period may be set to either short or long time values, where the second time period is a time of the connected state of the device. After the second time period expires, SCRI signaling is sent to release the connected state of the device. By selectively setting the timing of the connected state of a device based on accumulated data volume during a first period, the timing for signaling of release from a connected state is optimized.

    摘要: Techniques for controlling discontinuous transmissions in a wireless communication system are described. A method and apparatus for transmitting data on an uplink includes tracking past performance of at least one of an uplink channel condition and uplink system resources. A prediction of a likelihood of a completed or successful data transmission is performed. A long preamble is transmitted with an uplink control channel when the prediction indicates a likelihood of completion of the data transmission. When past performance indicates an unlikelihood of completing the transmission of the data, then the discontinuous mode is maintained without data transmission.

    摘要: Methods and apparatuses are provided for synchronizing security parameters between access terminals and a wireless network. An access terminal and network entity can conduct a security mode procedure where the access terminal sends a security mode complete message to the network entity. On receipt of the security mode complete message, the network entity may update to new security parameters. The access terminal may initiate a mobility procedure while the security mode procedure is ongoing and may, as a result, abort the security mode procedure and revert back to the old security parameters. The access terminal can send a mobility update message to the network entity including a dedicated status indicator adapted to inform the network entity that the access terminal has reverted back to the old security parameters. In response to the mobility update message, the network entity may revert back to the old security parameters.

The packet zone list timer provides hysteresis to reduce the possibility of a ping-pong effect when a mobile node is operated at, or crosses, a packet zone boundary. A timer value used by the packet zone timer is selected at the mobile node without the need for network-generated commands to notify the mobile node of the timer value. Comparisons are made at the mobile node, and determinations are made at the mobile node as to whether registration of the mobile node is required.
