Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communication. The apparatus includes a transceiver and a processing circuit. The transceiver is configured to transmit and receive wireless signals. The processing circuit is configured to detect an error of a previous scheduled transmission of data units from the apparatus to another apparatus. The other apparatus provides scheduled resources for transmission between the two apparatuses. Further, the processing circuit is configured to determine resources that are scheduled by the other apparatus for the apparatus to perform retransmission, and provide one or more of the data units in the previous scheduled transmission to the transceiver for retransmission using the scheduled resources.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide an apparatus having a processing circuit and a transceiver. The processing circuit is configured to generate a frame to have an extended subtype under a control type, configure a media access control (MAC) header of the frame to indicate an extended control frame format, and configure a field of the frame to be an extended subtype field according to the extended control frame format to carry an identification for the extended subtype. The extended subtype is defined in addition to a plurality of subtypes that are identifiable using a subtype field in the frame according to a control frame format. The transceiver is configured to transmit signals to carry the frame.

Abstract: A communication device determines an estimate of a communication channel, and determines, based on the estimate of the communication channel, a plurality of pairs of modulation schemes and encoding schemes to be used for a packet, including: i) determining, for a first set of adjacent orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) subcarriers, a first pair of a modulation scheme and an encoding scheme; and ii) determining, for a second set of adjacent OFDM subcarriers, a second pair of a modulation scheme and an encoding scheme, the second pair being different than the first pair. The communication device generates the packet for transmission, wherein i) all data modulated on the first set of adjacent OFDM subcarriers is modulated and encoded using the first pair, and ii) all data modulated on the second set of adjacent OFDM subcarriers is modulated and encoded using the second pair.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for introducing time diversity in a transmitter. The systems and methods may include receiving, at the transmitter, a request from a receiver to retransmit data. The systems and methods may further include operating on the signals using the first transmitter block in at least one of a first mode and a second mode, such that an output of signals from the first transmitter block is dependent on a time-varying function and corresponds to the data requested by the receiver for retransmission.

Abstract: A system including a modulator, a repetition module, and a phase rotation module. Abstract: A preamble, a first portion of a data payload, a midamble, and a second portion of the data payload of a single data unit are generated. The midamble is to be transmitted subsequent to transmission of the first portion of the data payload and prior to transmission of the second portion of the data payload. The midamble includes an indication of at least one characteristic of the data payload such as an indication of a size of the second portion of the data payload, or whether or not the data payload includes one or more other portions in addition to the first and second portions. A network interface of a communication device is configured to generate the preamble, the first and second portions of the data payload, and the midamble.

Abstract: A method is carried out on a device capable of utilizing a high efficiency wireless local area network (HEW) communication protocol and a legacy communication protocol, and includes wirelessly receiving a communication frame; when the measured energy level of the frame exceeds a static clear channel assessment (CCA) energy level, identifying the BSS to which the frame corresponds, wherein identifying the BSS to which the frame corresponds comprises utilizing a BSS identifier included in the frame when the frame is an HEW frame or utilizing a MAC address included in the frame when the frame is a legacy frame; when the frame corresponds to the same BSS as the device, processing the frame utilizing the static CCA energy level; and when the frame corresponds to an overlapping OBSS, processing the frame utilizing a dynamic CCA energy level.

Abstract: Accordingly, systems and methods for managing power when the number of training and data tones are increased in a wireless communications system are provided. An L-SIG field is generated that includes a set of data and pilot tones, wherein the pilot tones are inserted between the data tones in the set of data and pilot tones. A plurality of training tones is added to the L-SIG field before and after the set of data and pilot tones. A symbol is generated that includes the L-SIG field, an L-LTF field, and a data field, wherein the training tones of the L-SIG field provide channel estimates for the data field. Power of the L-LTF field is managed relative to power of the L-SIG field in the generated symbol in a time domain.
