Abstract: A method of operating a talk group server to control a virtual talk group member. During operation, the talk group server determines an assignment for a virtual talk group member to join a first talk group and communicate on behalf of a talk group member associated with a second talk group. The talk group server obtains user profile associated with the talk group member and causes the virtual talk group member to join the first talk group using the user profile associated with the talk group member. The talk group server then controls the virtual talk group member to perform the assignment by generating audio communications as a function of the user profile associated with the talk group member and transmitting audio communications on the first talk group.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for associating a query to a direction is provided herein. During operation, a virtual partner will attempt to determine a direction the query originated from. When answering the query, the virtual partner will adjust multiple speaker outputs so that the reply is perceived to come from the same direction as the query originated from. Additionally, if another follow-on query is made from a particular direction, the follow-on query will be associated with the prior query originating from the same particular direction.

Abstract: A system and method for enhancing a collaborative camera installation experience is disclosed. The method includes running an at least substantially similar test analytic on each of the first video and the second video to generate: first analytic output data corresponding to analytic processing of the first video; and second analytic output data corresponding to analytic processing of the second video. The method also includes assembling for Graphical User Interface (GUI) display to the security camera acquirer, the first and second analytic output data, or performance data derived therefrom. The method also includes, after the assembling for the GUI display, receiving input that one of a plurality of three-dimensionally defined points is selected, thereby identifying a confirmed installation point where a video security camera, different than an at least one substitutional camera, will be permanently installed.

Abstract: A process of detecting signal interference among geographically co-located radios affiliated with different talkgroups, An electronic computing device receives a log of push-to-talk (PTT) operations performed at a first radio and a log of audio quality values measured corresponding to audio communications received at a second radio. The first radio is affiliated with a first talkgroup and operates on a first channel frequency assigned to the first talkgroup. The second radio is affiliated with a second talkgroup and further operates on a second channel frequency assigned to the second talkgroup. The device detects that signal interference at the second radio is potentially caused by the first radio when there is a time correlation between a PTT operation performed at the first radio and a change in audio quality at the second radio and when the second radio was geographically co-located with the first radio during the time correlation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for writing a report is described herein. During the process an officer will acquire an image of an incident scene. The image may comprise a live image, a video, or a still image (picture). Potential objects of interest will be highlighted within the image for selection by the officer. When an object of interest is selected (e.g., touched on a touch screen), a description of the object of interest will be inserted at a point in a report where a cursor lies. The user will also be allowed to transcribe (via speech to text) their report, and have text representing their speech inserted where the cursor lies.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for quickly forming a PAN is describe herein. During operation, a modulated vibration will be received that identifies that network formation is to take place. All devices detecting the vibration will be paired/associated to form a PAN. In one embodiment of the present invention a first device generates the vibration and the subset of available devices will form a PAN with the first device acting as a master device within the formed PAN. In another embodiment of the present invention, a piece of clothing (e.g., a vest) is equipped with a haptic module (vibrating circuitry) to generate the vibration. All pieces of equipment attached to the piece of clothing will receive the vibration and pair accordingly.

SMART RING PROVIDING MULTI-MODE CONTROL IN A PERSONAL AREA NETWORK

Abstract: A smart ring (100) provides multi-mode control in a personal area network (PAN). The smart ring has a fingerprint sensor (106) for identifying upon which finger and which finger segment the smart ring is being worn. A controller (902) of the smart ring (100) enables a predetermined PAN device and PAN control function in response to identified finger and finger segment information (1, 2, 3) matching pre-stored fingerprint information. One of the PAN devices is thus selectively enabled and a predetermined function is controlled, based on identification of the finger and finger segment location of the smart ring (100). Several different PAN devices (narrowband radio, body-worn camera, sensors, gun holster, remote speaker microphone, broadband device, to name a few) can be selectively controlled and varied via rotation of the smart ring (100), making the smart ring well suited for public safety applications.
