Abstract: A fall protection device or cable grab device for use with a generally vertically-extending cable, comprising: an articulating frame comprising: (i) a plurality of members; (ii) a channel configured to receive and retain the cable; and (iii) an attachment member opening extending through at least a portion of the articulating frame and configured to facilitate attachment of an attachment member to the cable grab device; wherein, when the frame is articulated in a generally downward (or first) direction, and at a specified point, at least a portion of at least one of the plurality of members contacts the cable and brakes movement of the cable grab device; wherein, when the frame is articulated in a generally upward (or second) direction, and at a specified point, at least a portion of at least one of the plurality of members contacts the cable and brakes movement of the cable grab device.

Abstract: A connector for a fall protection compliance system includes a frame having an opening and a connection area configured for receiving a connection structure therein and a connection sensor assembly associated with the frame. The connection sensor assembly includes at least one permanent magnet configured for generating a magnetic field within at least a portion of the connection area, at least one magnetometer configured for detecting a presence or an absence of a disturbance in the magnetic field, and a control device having at least one processor programmed or configured to receive connection data from the at least one magnetometer, determine a connection status of the connector based on detecting the presence or the absence of the disturbance in the magnetic field, and perform at least one action based on the connection status. A method for detecting connection of a connector to a connection structure is also disclosed.

Abstract: A fall protection harness for being removably worn by a user having at least two leg straps, a first shoulder strap and a second shoulder strap. At least one of the shoulder straps has an energy absorbing element integrated therewith. The energy absorbing element may be a tubular webbing material surrounding a tearable webbing material with at least two bound webbing components configured to tear from one another when the shoulder strap is subjected to a force that exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: An external energy absorber may include a hub having a line associated therewith, the line including a first end directly or indirectly attached to the hub and a second end opposite the first end attached to a user, an energy absorbing arrangement directly or indirectly attached to the hub, the energy absorbing arrangement comprising an outer ring directly or indirectly attached to the hub, an inner ring directly or indirectly attached to a housing, and at least one energy absorbing member positioned between the outer ring and the inner ring, wherein the at least one energy absorbing member is configured to generate friction between the outer ring and the inner ring upon rotation of the hub, and the housing configured to hold the hub and energy absorbing arrangement.
