Abstract: A vehicular camera monitoring system a driver-side camera, a driver-side video display screen disposed at a driver-side cabin region of an interior cabin of the vehicle, a passenger-side camera and a passenger-side video display screen disposed at a passenger-side cabin region of the interior cabin of the vehicle. During a parking maneuver or parking-space exit maneuver of the vehicle, the driver-side video display screen displays parking assist images derived from image data captured by the driver-side camera and the passenger-side video display screen displays parking assist images derived from image data captured by the passenger-side camera. Upon completion of the parking-space exit maneuver where the vehicle exits a parking space, the driver-side and passenger-side video display screens automatically operate to display driving assist video images derived from image data captured by the respective side camera, with the displayed driving assist video images being different from the displayed parking assist images.

Abstract: An imaging system for a vehicle includes a tail lamp assembly that illuminates a field of illumination rearward of the vehicle. A light source control may operate at least one light source of the tail lamp assembly in a repeating cycle that includes (i) a first illumination period wherein light emitted by the tail lamp assembly has a first brightness level and (ii) a second illumination period wherein light emitted by the tail lamp assembly has a second brightness level that is lower than the first brightness level. A camera is operable to capture image data representative of a region that is at least in part within the field of illumination. A camera control may operate the camera to capture image data during at least part of the first illumination period.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer angle detection system includes a rear camera, a left-side camera, a right-side camera and a control having an image processor. With a trailer hitched at a vehicle, and while the vehicle is driven in a forward direction and towing the trailer, image data is captured by at least one of the cameras. The vehicular trailer angle detection system determines an expected location of the portion of the trailer based on provided vehicle-trailer parameters as the vehicle is driven forward and towing the trailer. The vehicular trailer angle detection system determines an actual location of the portion of the trailer via processing of captured image data as the vehicle is driven forward and towing the trailer. Responsive to an offset between the determined actual location of the portion of the trailer and the determined expected location, the vehicular trailer angle detection system accommodates the offset.

Abstract: A method for determining blockage of a vehicular camera includes providing a camera and mounting the camera at a vehicle so as to view exterior of the vehicle. The control determines at least one selected from the group consisting of (i) that the imaging sensor is totally blocked by determining that the count of bright photosensor pixels of the camera's imaging sensor remains below a threshold, and (ii) that the imaging sensor is partially blocked by determining continuity of intensity variations in different regions of the imaging sensor. The control, responsive to determination of either total blockage or partial blockage of the imaging sensor of the camera, adapts image processing by the image processor of frames of image data captured by the camera to accommodate (i) the determined total blockage of the imaging sensor of the camera or (ii) the determined partial blockage of the imaging sensor of the camera.

Abstract: A vehicular camera monitoring system includes a pair of rearward viewing cameras disposed at a vehicle with overlapping fields of view. A driver-monitoring camera is disposed at the vehicle. An ECU includes an image processor that processes image data captured by the driver-monitor camera and the rearward viewing cameras. A stereographic video display screen is disposed at the vehicle and viewable by the driver of the vehicle. Responsive to processing of image data captured by the driver-monitoring camera, the ECU determines location of each eye of the driver of the vehicle. Responsive to processing of image data captured by each of the rearward viewing cameras, the stereographic video display screen displays video images derived at least in part from image data captured by both rearward viewing cameras and provides depth perception to the driver of the vehicle viewing the displayed video images.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a rear backup camera viewing at least rearward of the vehicle. With a trailer hitched to the vehicle, and based at least in part on image processing of captured image data during a backing-up maneuver, the image processor determines a distance between an axle of the trailer and the hitch of the vehicle and determines a trailer angle of the trailer hitched to the vehicle. During the backing-up maneuver of the trailer hitched to the vehicle, the vehicular control system determines a path of the trailer responsive to (i) a steering angle of the vehicle, (ii) the determined trailer angle of the trailer and (iii) the determined distance between the axle of the trailer and the hitch of the vehicle. The vehicular control system displays information to assist the driver in backing up the trailer hitched to the vehicle.

Abstract: A method of calibrating a multi-camera vision system includes moving a vehicle along a vehicle assembly line having targets at respective side regions, with each target including a longitudinal line and a plurality of tick marks that extend laterally from the longitudinal line. As the vehicle moves along the vehicle assembly line it is equipped with a plurality of cameras and an image processor. As the vehicle moves along the vehicle assembly line, the target at a respective side region of the vehicle assembly line is present within the fields of view of front, side and rear cameras. Image data is captured by the cameras and processed to detect the targets and to determine misalignment of at least one of the cameras. The vehicular multi-camera vision system is calibrated by adjusting processing by the image processor of image data captured by the at least one misaligned camera.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a camera having an exterior field of view at least forward of the vehicle. During a forward maneuver of the vehicle towing a trailer, the vehicular control system detects an object present exterior of the vehicle which ought not be impacted during the forward maneuver of the vehicle towing the trailer based at least in part on image processing by an image processor of image data captured by the camera. Responsive at least in part to detection of the object, the vehicular control system determines a forward driving path for the vehicle towing the trailer that avoids the detected object so that the trailer does not run over or contact the detected object. The vehicular control system determines the forward driving path at least in part responsive to (i) processing of captured image data and (ii) trailer data pertaining to physical characteristics of the trailer.
