摘要: The invention relates to a probe (10) for an implantable medical device. The probe has a distal end (2) and a proximal end (3), and the probe (10) moreover comprises an electrode (1) at the distal end. The electrode is connected to a wire (5) extending from the electrode to the proximal end of the probe, where the resistivity of the wire is non-uniform along the length of the wire. The wire may have high resistivity at the distal end of the probe and low resistivity wires elsewhere. The high resistivity wires reduce the peak current density in the tissue of an implanted device, and thus prevents destructive heating and/or undesired stimulation of tissue during MRI examination. This highly contributes to MR safety which is a highly desired feature for these implantable electrical stimulation devices.

摘要: The invention relates to a preparing apparatus for preparing an influencing procedure for influencing a subject. The preparing apparatus (1) comprises a subject coil (3) for generating a magnetic resonance image of he subject (7), an instrument guide device (5) for guiding an instrument (6) for influencing the subject (7), a marker (9) being visible in the magnetic resonance image, and an attaching element for attaching the instrument guide device (5) to the subject coil (3) in a known spatial relationship. Since the spatial relationship between the instrument guide device (5) and the subject coil (3) is known, if they are attached to each other, a time consuming registration procedure for registering an influence trajectory, which has been planned based on the magnetic resonance image, and the instrument guide device (5) can be avoided.

摘要: A pawn (10) for use on a board (21) is provided. The pawn (10) is arranged to provide a trigger signal upon a touch of a triggerable part of the pawn (10) by a user, and comprises communication means for communicating the trigger signal to a board (21). The pawn (10) comprises at least two separate triggerable sub-parts (11, 12) for, upon a touch of each respective one of the at least two separate triggerable sub-parts (11, 12) by a user, respectively providing a first and a second trigger signal. The first and the second trigger signal are mutually distinguishable. Such a pawn (10) can easily be used for activating a certain function of a set of functions. A function is selected by touching a corresponding triggerable sub-part (11, 12).

摘要: A system for manipulation of a body of fluid, in particular a fluid droplet comprises several control electrodes to which an adjustable voltage is applied to control displacement of the droplet on the basis of the electrowetting effect. There is a counter electrode having a fixed voltage between the body of fluid and one of the control electrodes. Further, as the counter electrode and the control electrodes are located at the same side of the fluid droplet, the fluid droplet is freely accessible at its side remote from the counter electrode and the control electrodes. Hence, the fluid droplet can be employed as an object carrier and a pay-load can be placed on the droplet from the freely accessible side.

摘要: A method and a control system (20) are provided for determining a relation between stimulation settings for a brain stimulation probe (10) and a corresponding V-field. The brain stimulation probe (10) comprises multiple stimulation electrodes (11). The V-field is an electrical field in brain tissue surrounding the stimulation electrodes (11). The method comprises sequentially applying a test current to n stimulation electrodes (11), n being a number between 2 and the number of stimulation electrodes (11) of the brain stimulation probe (10), for each test current at one of the n stimulation electrodes (11), measuring a resulting excitation voltage at m stimulation electrodes, m being a number between 2 and the number of stimulation electrodes (11) of the brain stimulation probe (10), from the stimulation settings and the measured excitation voltages, deriving an (m*{acute over (η)}) coupling matrix, an element (q, p) in the coupling matrix reflecting an amount of electrical impedance between two of the stimulation electrodes (11), and using the coupling matrix for determining the relation between the stimulation settings and the corresponding V-field.

摘要: The present disclosure provides for systems and methods enabling the insertion of leads (as used e.g., in a framework of the brain treatment therapies) through a target anatomy for conforming with a target tissue region. An exemplary lead includes at least a partially curved portion for conforming with a geometry defined by the target tissue region. In an exemplary embodiment, the system relates to stimulating targets in the brain for improved post-operative steering of an applied electric field. The leads can be either pre-curved or put under transversal mechanical strain during insertion such that a certain curved curvature of the insertion trajectory is achieved. The system includes at least a first insertion tool removably engaged with respect to the lead for guiding and providing mechanical support to the lead during insertion.
