摘要: Stimulation treatment of medical disorders use stimulation parameters that provide stimulation of a target site directly or create partial stimulation signals that combine into vector signals that stimulate a target site. Stimulation signals have characteristics such as frequency, timing, temporal content that is adjusted for the person being treated. Signals are designed with advantageous characteristics to influence target tissue in an intended manner and avoid producing unwanted side-effects. Stimulation signals are designed to match or avoid internal/endogenous activity (e.g., brain patterns and rhythms) of a patient. Methods for choosing, creating and partial signals are disclosed. Tissue modulation may be accomplished with electrical and/or magnetic stimulation, such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation.

摘要: A method for subcutaneously treating pain in a patient includes first providing a neurostimulator with an IPG body and at least a primary, a secondary, and a tertiary integral lead with electrodes disposed thereon. A primary incision is opened to expose the subcutaneous region below the dermis in a selected portion of the body. A pocket is then opened for the IPG through the primary incision and the integral leads are inserted through the primary incision and routed subcutaneously to desired nerve regions along desired paths. The IPG is disposed in the pocket through the primary incision. The primary incision is then closed and the IPG and the electrodes activated to provide localized stimulation to the desired nerve regions and at least three of the nerves associated therewith to achieve a desired pain reduction response from the patient.

摘要: A method and device is described, which provides electrical stimulation to the brain of a person, where the device comprises an external portion and at least one implantable portion. The external portion provides the energy source for stimulation to the implantable portions. The implantable portions provide at least two conductive paths through the skull and use the skull's high impedance to generate a current loop with the focus of stimulation lying in the current path.

摘要: A method of providing therapy to a patient according to one embodiment includes generating an electrical noise signal by at least one noise generator controlled by a controller of a tunable noise system, partitioning the electrical noise signal into a plurality of discrete frequency bands, each of the discrete frequency bands having a corresponding bandwidth, delivering the electrical noise signal through one or more electrodes to the patient to target at least one of neural tissue or non-neural tissue of the patient, adjusting an amplitude of one or more of a voltage or current of the electrical noise signal within a selected frequency band of the plurality of discrete frequency bands to generate an adjusted electrical signal based on feedback received from the patient, and delivering the adjusted electrical signal through the one or more electrodes to provide therapy to the patient.

摘要: A device may receive, from one or more electrodes, information identifying brain activity for a first time period. The device may predict, based on the information identifying the brain activity for the first time period, predicted brain activity for a second time period that is to occur after the first time period. The device may determine, based on the predicted brain activity for the second time period, a brain stimulus for the second time period, wherein the brain stimulus is associated with a frequency and a phase determined based on the predicted brain activity for the second time period. The device may cause the brain stimulus to be applied in accordance with the frequency and the phase during the second time period.

摘要: A proto-device for implantation into soft tissue comprises an oblong device body, biodegradable microfibres adhesively attached to the body, a rigid matrix of biocompatible material enclosing the body and the microfibres. The biocompatible material is dissolvable and/or degradable in aqueous body fluid at a rate substantially superior to the rate of microfibre degradation. The proto-device is one of proto-microelectrode, proto-optical fibre, proto-polymer tube for drug delivery, proto-electrical lead, proto-encapsulated electronics. Also disclosed are uses of the proto-device and methods for its implantation and manufacture.

摘要: This document discusses, among other things, systems and methods for managing pain of a subject. A system includes a first sensor circuit to sense a first signal indicative of a functional state of the subject, a second sensor circuit to sense a second signal different from the first signal, and a controller circuit. The controller circuit may determine an operating mode of the second sensor circuit according to the sensed first signal, trigger the second senor circuit to sense the second signal under the determined operating mode, and generate a pain score using at least the second signal sensed under the determined operating mode. The pain score may be output to a patient or used for closed-loop control of a pain therapy.

摘要: An implanted neural micro interface device is provided. The device comprises microfilaments of various materials and forms embedded within a body. The microfilaments form interaction sites with surrounding neural tissue at their exit points from the implantable body. The body and filaments are configurable in a multitude of positions to provide increased engagement of a given neural tissue section as well as interaction and closed loop feedback between the microfilament sites. Such configurations allow for a range of recording, stimulating, and treatment modalities for the device within research and clinical settings.
