Abstract:
A process for treating a gas comprising hydrogen suilfide and carbon dioxide by contacting the gas with a scrub solution comprising ammonium sulfite and ammonium bisulfite in a first contact zone to produce ammonium thiosulfate. The scrub solution can be formed in a second contact zone by contacting ammonia and hydrogen sulfide with an aqueous solution. The oxidation potential of the first contact zone effluent liquid can be controlled by modulating the amount of sulfur dioxide supplied to the second contact zone. Alternatively, the sulfite concentration of the first contact zone effluent can be measured with an infrared analyzer and the amount of sulfur dioxide supplied to the second contact zone modulated in response. Additionally, the amount of ammonia supplied to the second contact zone can be modulated in response to the pH in the second contact zone. The process can further comprise a solvent scrubber to remove carbon dioxide from the first contact zone overhead gas. A third contact zone can be included in the process to separate the hydrogen sulfite from the carbon dioxide in the solvent regenerator overhead gas.

This invention provides a method for treating or preventing arrhythmias in a human subject comprising the administration of an effective amount of a calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase inhibitor. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising a calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase inhibitor and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and methods for identifying agents useful for the treatment of arrhythmias.
Abstract:
A system and method for updating a system that controls applications requested for execution on a workstation. A workstation management module is configured to detect requested execution of an application. A workstation application server receives data associated with the application from the workstation. The application server module can determine one or more categories to associate with the application by referencing an application inventory database or requesting the category from an application database factory. The application database factory can receive applications from multiple application server modules. The application database factory determines whether the application was previously categorized and provides the category to the application server module; which forwards a hash/policy table to the workstation management module. Upon receipt of the hash/policy table, the workstation management module applies the policy to control access to the requested application on the workstation.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the present application is directed to a structure. The structure comprises a structural layer having an external surface and a coating on the external surface of the structural layer. The coating comprises a polyurethane binder; and photocatalytic particles within the polyurethane binder. In another embodiment, the present application is directed to a composition. The composition comprises a polyurethane binder and photocatalytic particles within the polyurethane binder.
Abstract:
A credential communication device and method adapted to transmit and receive data, including means to process said data in order to effect credential verification and trusted mutual recognition between the device and a second credential communication device, without reference to a third party, further including at least one proximity conductor adapted to transfer at least some data only when in such physical proximity to a second credential communication device as to effectively exclude the possibility of third party involvement in the transaction.
Abstract:
A method is provided for reducing the water content of a sulfuric acid catalyst in a sulfuric acid-catalyzed process carried out in a reactor comprising: (a) withdrawing a portion of catalyst from the acid settler, forming a withdrawn catalyst stream; (b) continuously adding an SO3-containing substance to the withdrawn catalyst stream at a desired rate, forming a fortified catalyst, while maintaining the temperature of the fortified catalyst stream below about 60° F.; (c) returning the fortified catalyst to the reactor; whereby the water concentration in the fortified catalyst is maintained at 1.5 to 4 weight percent of the catalyst. A method is also provided for drying paraffinic feed or recycle hydrocarbon streams in a reactor system comprising contacting the feed or recycle hydrocarbon streams with spent sulfuric acid, whereby the feed or recycle streams are dried and whereby a portion of the sulfuric acid esters in the spent acid are converted to sulfuric acid and alkylate. The alkylate produced is extracted into the hydrocarbon phase and returns to the reactor system.
Abstract:
A walk reel mower has a front mounted reel cutting unit and a rear handle. The operator pushes the handle towards the ground to lift the reel cutting unit off the ground prior to turning the walk reel mower around. When this occurs, the manner in which the reel cutting unit is supported in conjunction with the influence of gravity causes the reel cutting unit to pitch rearwardly relative to the frame of the walk reel mower. This change of orientation is used to close a switch which, in turn, initiates an automatic slow down of the mower to ease the task of turning the mower around. When a turn is completed and the cutting unit is dropped back down into engagement with the ground, the slow down is terminated and the ground speed resumes at whatever predetermined ground speed was previously selected by the operator.
Abstract:
A system and method for updating a system that controls files executed on a workstation. The workstation includes a workstation management module configured to detect the launch of an application. A workstation application server receives data associated with the application from the workstation. This data can include a hash value. The application server module can determine one or more categories to associate with the application by referencing an application inventory database or requesting the category from an application database factory. The application database factory can receive applications from multiple application server modules. The application database factory determines whether the application was previously categorized by the application database factory and provides the category to the application server module. Once the application server module has the category, it forwards a hash/policy table to the workstation management module. Upon receipt of the hash/policy table, the workstation management module applies the policy that is associated with the launched application to control access to the application on the workstation.
Abstract:
An identification circuit for establishing and sensing the state of a fusible element used in on chip identification of the chip's type comprising: a circuit establishing control signals for turning the identification circuit on and off; dual paths energized by the control signals generated by the level setting circuit to energize one path through the fusible element to provide a state level and the other path through a reference path which provides a reference voltage level which is distinguishable from both the blown and unblown states of the fusible element; a differential sensing circuit for comparing the reference voltage level to the state level to provide a signal indicating the state of the fusible element; and protection circuitry to protect the circuit during an operation in which the state of the fusible element is set.
