Abstract:
Various embodiments facilitate history-based decision making in television receivers, such as set-top boxes. In one embodiment, a history-based decision facilitator (“HBDF”) is provided. The HBDF facilitates decision making in a television receiver based on device history data received from the television receiver. In one embodiment, the HBDF receives an indication of an operation to be performed by the television receiver, the operation including one or more parameters. In response, the HBDF determines values for the one or more parameters, based on device history data received from the television receiver. The HBDF then provides the determined parameter values to the television receiver. In one example application, the HBDF can determine a tuner of the television receiver to utilize for recording a program, based on the history of the television receiver, such as that the determined tuner is typically idle during the scheduled recording time period.
Abstract:
A system, method, and apparatus for networked print management without the presence of print servers. The system, method, and apparatus allow a user to submit documents to a multifunction device for printing. The multifunction device (MFD) is in communication with one or more other MFDs over an application server. The application server acts as a request broker to allow one MFD to print a document on another MFD. The user accesses the MFD to view the submitted documents. The one or more other MFDs send any additional documents to the accessed MFD. The user selects one or more of the user's documents for printing by the accessed MFD. The user can also select the user's documents on the accessed MFD and forward them to a second MFD for printing.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for synchronizing multiple busses having different cycle times in a data processing system (10). The present invention synchronizes multiple clocks having different phase and frequencies without redundant use of phase lock loop units. An initial unit (7) receives an external system clock having an initial phase and frequency. An internal clock (112) is generated which is a phase and frequency adjusted derivation of the system clock. From this internal clock (112) a global clock (101) for use within the data processor (10) is generated. A second unit (9) receives the internal clock (112) and performs phase adjustment to provide a peripheral clock (114). The provision of the internal clock (112) detaches the dependency of peripheral clock (114) generation from the global clock (101), while maintaining a phase relationship with the global clock (101). In one embodiment, the present invention is implemented without the costly use of multiple phase lock loops.
Abstract:
An image or photo on a smart device is reduced to its base binary format and transmitted to a secured server during a negotiation with a client. The binary data received is separated into an encrypted Public Key and an encrypted Private Key on the secured server. The encrypted public key is sent back to the smart device as encrypted data. The public key encrypted data incorporates the PSI and financial data into a dynamic blockchain string and transmits the encrypted dynamic blockchain data back to the secured server via secured web services for decryption. The encrypted private key residing on the secured server decrypts the incoming encrypted personal sensitive information, executes the transaction and transmits the transaction data to multiple secured databases located across multiple encrypted servers located on multiple secured server farms.
Abstract:
Described are computer-based methods and apparatuses, including computer program products, for testing functionality of a firewall. The testing the functionality of the firewall can include a method. The method can include selecting a plurality of valid message types, generating a percentage of valid and invalid messages from the plurality of valid message types, transmitting the plurality of valid and invalid messages to the firewall, receiving an indication of the firewall's handling of valid and invalid messages based on the transmitted message, and determining the functionality of the firewall from the received indication.

Abstract:
A method for recording multimedia content. The method includes providing instructions to record a plurality of segments of multimedia content, each of the plurality of segments having a recording start time and a recording end time associated therewith. The method further includes providing instructions regarding recording settings for one or more first segments of multimedia content to be recorded. The method also includes comparing modified start time and/or modified end times with the recording start times and/or the recording end times associated with the plurality of segments of multimedia content and determining, based at least in part on the comparison, whether to record the one or more first segments with the modified start time and/or the modified end time.
Abstract:
In various embodiments, a recording and playback manager of a digital video recorder (DVR), set top box, receiver or other device stores and accesses statistics in a statistics file related to average distances between reference frames (e.g., intra frames or I-frames) within blocks of the video data of the recording. Accessing these statistics during playback enables the system to more accurately locate reference frames to display while executing the playback in a trick mode such as fast forward, rewind or skip. The average distance between reference frames for a particular block of video data may be used to jump from one reference frame to the next reference frame in that block during playback in trick mode.
Abstract:
The various embodiments described herein provide for the layout and rendering of graphical interfaces to be independent from the underlying functionality of the application. The layout functionality for a graphical interface of an application is detached from the application itself, allowing the application and its associated graphical interface to be moved to different platforms utilizing different graphical application programming interfaces (APIs).
Abstract:
The present invention provides a reactor design that enables an auto-thermal cracking process to be conducted at any suitable pressure wherein the gaseous reactants are preheated separately before mixing and then presented to the reaction zone in a uniformly distributed manner. In particular, the present invention-relates to apparatus for reacting a first and second gaseous reactant to form a gaseous product wherein the apparatus comprises at least one first supply means for the first gaseous reactant, at least one second supply means for the second gaseous reactant, a resistance zone and a reaction zone, preferably comprising a catalyst, wherein the first supply means comprises a plurality of first outlets for delivery of the first gaseous reactant, and the second supply means comprises a plurality of second outlets for delivery of the second gaseous reactant, the resistance zone is porous, the reaction zone is positioned downstream of the resistance zone with respect to the flow of the first and second gaseous reactants and wherein the first supply means and the second supply means are arranged such that the first gas and the second gas are contacted in an essentially parallel manner and mixed prior to contacting the resistance zone. The present invention also provides a process for the production of a mono-olefin utilizing said apparatus.
