摘要: For the creation and self-organization of peer-groups the JXTA protocol may be used, which includes messages such as peer or peer-group advertisements and services such as the discovery service. Conventional peer-groups of this type are static and need restart after any modification, e.g. a new service. A method for dynamically managing hardware and/or software elements, e.g. services, utilized and/or offered by such peer-groups comprises detecting a change within a peer-group, creating a new peer-group identifier, publishing within the peer-group a first peer-group advertisement message that includes the current and the new peer-group identifier and pointers to current services including the detected modification, accepting the new peer-group identifier by the other peer-group members, and publishing a second peer-group advertisement message in the superordinate peer-group, wherein both advertisement messages may be identical. Thus, peer-groups may operate continuously while peers modify, add or delete services.

摘要: The invention is related to a device for presenting, an image frame by help of a set of displaying commands wherein a displaying command comprises a displaying area and a displaying content. The device comprises means for adapting a first and/or a second displaying command set such that an adapted displaying command sets comprises displaying areas which do not intersect with any displaying area of the same set. Furthermore, the displaying areas of an adapted set cover a display area the image frames are displayed on. The device further determines displaying commands of the adapted second set not comprised in the adapted first set. Then, the determined displaying commands are executed.Adaptation makes comparison of displaying commands suitable for excluding areas from displaying/blitting/clearing.

摘要: Normally, digital PIP video signals are directly edited into the main video signal and then encoded jointly into a single coded video stream. However, in order to give a user full control over the PIP presentation of the encoded video signals, each PIP signal requires a separate encoding, and in a receiver one video decoder is required for each video stream displayed. According to the invention, a PIP-like presentation of timeline-related auxiliary video signals is enabled, achieving this with only one coded video stream and therefore a single video decoder. When encoding, the video plane is logically split into a main video area and a side panel area that carries one or more PIP windows. After decoding, the main video area is displayed centred or stretched to the full display size. The content of the side panel is not displayed directly but, depending on side information, some portions of that side panel are overlaid on the main video window. Because the PIP video signals are no longer hard-coded into the main video window, the user has control over showing or hiding each one of the PIP video signals.

摘要: According to the invention sub-picture data are organized in sub-picture units, the sub-picture units comprising pixel data in a pixel data area as well as display control data and/or address information data, wherein a sub-picture unit of a second sub-picture stream is inserted into the pixel data area of a sub-picture unit of a first sub-picture stream. This permits several sub-picture streams for systems, which are defined to allow only a single sub-picture stream. Especially for DVD-VR conflicts with the already existing DVD-VR specification are avoided. Therefore, enhanced DVD-VR devices using the invention are able to record and playback additional sub-picture streams and conventional DVD-VR devices are able to record and playback the same signal without any compatibility problems, although restricted to only a single sub-picture stream.

摘要: The invention relates to a reproduction apparatus having a buffer for reducing the mean access time to an information carrier which has for example a discontinuous data structure or a relatively long access time. For writing sectors to the buffer and for finding sectors in the buffer, a control table with a number of place holders and three variables is provided, the place holders in each case pointing with an index to a subsequent place holder in an endless chain of place holders which is divided into three regions, in which a predetermined sector in the order in the respective region is identified by one of the variables. Even though only one row of place holders is provided, multiple access to a plurality of sectors written to the buffer is made possible with a low outlay by means of the control table, so that the number of slower accesses to the information carrier is reduced and the mean access time is shortened. Application is envisaged for reproduction apparatuses with a small storage space, such as, for example, a DVD reproduction apparatus.

摘要: In the field of data storage on limited rewritability storage media, handling frequently changing databases may lead to unequal wear of storage segments. The invention discloses a method for modifying a database file, which ensures maximally distributed segment wear in that any writing of data records uses a next available segment after the last written segment; and a reading method. A data carrier according to the method, containing a database file with records having version numbers is also disclosed.
