Abstract:
A hair removal apparatus and method is presented. The hair removal apparatus can have a pair of tension units and at least one hair removal line. In one aspect, each of the tension units can have a first arm and a second arm that is moveable in relation to the first arm such that the distance between the distal ends of the two arms can be changed with respect to one another. In one aspect of the hair removal method, the line is configured to form an “X,” with the center of the “X” being the twist point. The hair is removed by moving the twist point past the target hair, catching the target hair in a portion of the twist point, removing it from the skin.
Abstract:
A pressure measuring device suitable for disposition in a chamber of an internal combustion engine. The pressure measuring device has a housing, a force transmitting element that is effectively connected to a pressure sensor, and a sensor cage that surrounds the pressure sensor. The sensor cage is connected to the housing by a circumferential weld seam only at one connection segment of the housing. In this way, it is possible to achieve a defined pre-tensioning of a metal diaphragm that is connected on the one hand to the sensor cage and on the other hand to the force transmitting element.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method, a computer program product and a system of adding new static data variables and initialisation routines for these variables as part of a method of replacing a current version of a computer program with a replacement version of the program concurrently with the execution of the program on a computer system. This replacement version consists of new machine code completely replacing the existing version, new static data variables and initialisation routines for these variables. The content of the existing static variables will be preserved during the application of the concurrent patch. The concurrent patch can be revoked and the new static data variables can be removed such that the computer program that was executed before the application of the concurrent patch will be executed again.
Abstract:
The invention relates to copolymers which are suitable for producing additives for solvent deparaffination of paraffin-containing mineral oil distillates and which consist of radically polymerized monomers of formulas A and B, wherein the radicals have the meaning cited in the description. The invention also relates to the use of said copolymers for the production of dewaxing additives.
Abstract:
An organic material can be used in a modified strain gauge for IR transduction, resulting in an organic IR sensor. Infrared radiation incident on the organic material modulates a displacement of the material in order to detect the presence and intensity of IR radiation. This innovative design doesn't require cooling, and is sensitive to 9 and 3 μm—wavelengths that are emitted by mammals and forest fires, respectively. In addition, a photomechanical polymer can be used in a transistor based on a thin-film transistor (TFT), also resulting in an IR sensor. Through careful synthesis of the polymers, the photomechanical response of the transistor can be tailored to certain IR bands for detection purposes.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a rotor end piece (1) for rotors (2) of thermal turbomachines with a circumferential slot (3), consisting of two end piece halves (4, 4′) having side faces (5, 5′) opposite one another in the installed state and of a wedge (6) which is pushed in between them and which, in the installed state, is anchored in the side faces (5, 5′) of the end piece halves (4, 4′) in a form-fitting manner, the rotor end piece (1) being arranged in the axial direction of the rotor (2) between two moving blades (7, 7′). It is characterized in that each of the end piece halves (4, 4′) is fastened in the axial direction of the rotor (2) to the two adjacent moving blades (7, 7′) by means of one interlocking connection (8, 8′, 9, 9′) each. These four interlocking connections (8, 8′, 9, 9′), instead of the rotor (2), now absorb the axial forces which are caused by the centrifugal force and the caulked wedge (6). In this way, disturbing rotor vibrations are advantageously avoided.

Abstract:
A plate, e.g., a license plate for motor vehicles, includes a base body which is made of an electrically conductive material, or has an electrically conductive layer applied either directly or via a further layer. Thus, the electrically conductive base body or its electrically conductive coating forms a first electrode of a flat capacitor. A layer having an electroluminescent pigmentation is applied on the base body or the electrically conductive layer. The electroluminescent coating may be applied by various methods, e.g., spray painting, brushing, special screen-printing methods, etc. To create the electrical field, it may be necessary to apply to the electroluminescent layer an electrically conductive layer for forming the second electrode.
Abstract:
A lockable electric power cord adapter has a unitary housing containing male plug blade receiving member therein wherein each blade receiving member has a pivotable locking member mounted thereon. The blade receiving member has a hole therein for allowing a barbed end of the locking member to pass therethrough and engage a hole in the male plug blade in the locking position. An actuator has actuating lugs thereon which pivot the locking members to an unlocked position when the actuating member is pushed against a biasing spring.
