摘要: A method and apparatus for correcting drift of the beam irradiation position during automated FIB (focused ion beam) processing with a reference image-setting unit, an image read-in unit for reading in images of the reference image region during the FIB processing, an arithmetic-and-control unit for finding the direction and amount of image deviation between the subsequent images, and a beam deflection system-adjusting unit for correcting the beam deflection system by correcting the image deviation based on the deviation in response to the output from the arithmetic-and-control unit. The arithmetic-and-control unit optimizes the brightness or contrast of the reference image.

摘要: A video camera is placed so as to overlook vehicles' attitudes at an intersection and in the vicinity of the intersection. Video signals provided by the video camera are sent to the main body of a vehicles movement measuring apparatus. An A/D converting unit in the main body converts the video signals into digital data. Digital data in two frames, one of which is taken a certain length of time after the other, is stored in image memory units. Another image memory unit stores data of an input image including no vehicle image. An image data processing unit performs image processing on the data stored in the image memory units and extracts data about vehicles from the processed data. Information relating to speeds, tracking, etc., of vehicles is output from a data input-output unit. This processing of the obtained image data measures vehicles' movement as the degree of traffic jam or the smoothness of the downstream traffic flow on a road with detection of data regarding vehicles presence or speeds.

摘要: A printer improved in the accuracy of detection as to whether or not recording paper exists. The printer has a sensor provided upstream a printing head in a paper feed direction to detect whether or not recording paper exists, a device for measuring a paper feed quantity of the recording paper, a central processing unit that controls the measuring device and a printer control circuit, and a comparator that makes a comparison between the measured paper feed quantity and a predetermined value. When "paper empty" is detected by the sensor, the central processing unit judges it to be "real paper empty" when no "paper existence" is detected during the period that predetermined paper feed is conducted after the detection of the "paper empty", and then suspends the printing operation. Thus, it is possible to prevent the central processing unit from erroneously judging a printed portion of the recording paper to be the trailing end of the recording paper.

摘要: A stereoscopic image with a predetermined parallax can be automatically taken, and a stereoscopic image with an arbitrary parallax can also be taken based on selection made by a photographer. An imaging apparatus includes two or more imaging systems. First, a guidance indicating that a first imaging system is used to take a first image and that a second imaging system is used to take a second image, is displayed on a monitor of the imaging apparatus. After the first image is shot by the first imaging system, a live view image shot by the second imaging system is displayed in a semi-transparent manner with the shot first image on the monitor, and a guidance is also displayed on the monitor. When the release switch is depressed, the second image is shot by the right imaging system.

摘要: A system capable of separating sound source signals with high precision while improving a convergence rate and convergence precision. A process of updating a current separation matrix Wk to a next separation matrix Wk+1 such that a next value J(Wk+1) of a cost function is closer to a minimum value J(W0) than a current value J(Wk) is iteratively performed. An update amount ΔWk of the separation matrix is increased as the current value J(Wk) of the cost function is increased and is decreased as a current gradient ∂J(Wk)/∂W of the cost function is rapid. On the basis of input signals x from a plurality of microphones Mi and an optimal separation matrix W0, it is possible to separate sound source signals y(=W0·x) with high precision while improving a convergence rate and convergence precision.

摘要: A collision avoidance system for a mobile unit includes an image capturing unit for capturing an image of an environment surrounding a mobile unit. Motion vector is calculated based on the captured image. Collision probability is calculated based on the motion vectors of the image. The system includes a plurality of receptive field units that are modeled on the optic lobe cells of the flies. Each of the receptive field units includes a filter producing an excitatory response to the motion vector diverging from the center of the receptive field in the central area of the receptive field and producing an inhibitory response to the motion vector converging toward the center of the receptive field in the areas around the central area. The outputs of the receptive field units are compared to determine a direction in which the obstacle approaches the mobile unit. The mobile unit moves in a direction to avoid collision.
