Abstract: The invention provides systems and methods for an autonomous vehicle and center control system (AVCCS), which is a component of a Connected Automated Vehicle Highway (CAVH) system. The AVCCS is configured to realize drone/tele driving or digital twins by providing automated vehicles (AVs) or connected automated vehicles (CAVs) with vehicle-specific control instructions comprising instructions for vehicle longitudinal and lateral position, speed, and steering and control. Specifically, through the system, AVs or CAVs can be effectively and efficiently controlled by the AVCCS. In addition, the AVCCS is configured to provide vehicle-specific control instructions to AVs or CAVs and control them through a hierarchy of traffic control centers/units (TCCs/TCUs) or the combination of TCCs/TCUs and the onboard units (OBUs) with a vehicle control module, wherein said TCCs/TCUs are configured to fulfill vehicle maneuver tasks, monitor safety maintenance tasks, and take over if the system fails.

Abstract: A barrier operator feature enhancement device is designed to provide one or more features found in modern barrier operator devices and to incorporate those features into a previously installed barrier operator system. To facilitate ease of use, the barrier operator feature enhancement device can communicate with a large variety of barrier operators. Such communication may be wireless or wired, depending on the communication protocol implemented by a particular previously installed barrier operator. To facilitate the ease of installation, the device is designed to configure itself to operate with the communication protocol of the previously installed barrier operator. Once configured to be able to communicate with the previously installed barrier operator, the feature enhancement device works with the barrier operator to provide one or more additional features to enhance the capabilities of the previously installed barrier operator.

Abstract: An example method includes receiving, from one or more sensors associated with an autonomous vehicle, sensor data associated with a target object in an environment of the vehicle during a first environmental condition, where at least one sensor of the sensor(s) is configurable to be associated with one of a plurality of operating field of view volumes. The method also includes based on the sensor data, determining at least one parameter associated with the target object. The method also includes determining a degradation in the parameter(s) between the sensor data and past sensor data, where the past sensor data is associated with the target object in the environment during a second environmental condition different from the first and, based on the degradation, adjusting the operating field of view volume of the at least one sensor to a different one of the operating field of view volumes.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe dynamic road traffic noise mapping using DFOS over a telecommunications network that enables mapping of road traffic-induced noise at any observer location. DFOS is used to obtain instant traffic data including vehicle speed, volume, and vehicle types, based on vibration and acoustic signal along the length of a sensing fiber along with location information. A sound pressure level at a point of interest is determined, and traffic data associated with such point is incorporated into a reference noise emission database and a wave propagation theory for total sound pressure level prediction and mapping. Real-time wind speed using DFOS—such as distributed acoustic sensing (DAS)—is obtained to provide sound pressure adjustment due to the wind speed.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and non-transitory computer readable media that control an autonomous vehicle via at least two sensors. One aspect includes capturing an image of a scene ahead of the vehicle with a first sensor, identifying an object in the scene at a confidence level based on the image, determining the confidence level of the identifying is below a threshold, in response to the confidence level being below the threshold, directing a second sensor having a field of view smaller than the first sensor to generate a second image including a location of the identified object, further identifying the object in the scene based on the second image, controlling the vehicle based on the further identification of the object.

Abstract: An impairment analysis (“IA”) computer system for alerting a first driver of a first vehicle to a driving hazard posed by a second vehicle operated by a second driver is provided. The IA computer system is associated with the first vehicle, and includes at least one processor in communication with at least one memory device. The at least one processor is programmed to: (i) receive second vehicle data including second driver data and second vehicle condition data, where the second vehicle data is collected by a plurality of sensors included on the first vehicle; (ii) analyze the second vehicle data by applying a baseline model to the second vehicle data; (iii) determine that the second vehicle poses a driving hazard to the first vehicle based upon the analysis; and/or (iv) generate an alert signal based upon the determination that the second vehicle poses a driving hazard to the first vehicle.
