    Abstract: A system is disclosed in which a user equipment (UE) performs small data transmissions in Radio Resource Control (RRC) Inactive state. The UE receives information configuring small data transmissions via a control-plane, and when there is uplink data to be sent as a small data transmission, the UE generates and transmits an RRC message comprising said small data transmission using a Signalling Radio Bearer (SRB) provided via a Common Control Channel (CCCH).

    Abstract: A communication system is disclosed in which a base station receives, from a core network entity, a paging request for paging an MTC device. The base station determines a paging occasion for sending to said MTC device paging related information, wherein the paging occasion is defined such that it identifies a plurality of subframes in which the paging related information can be sent and repeated. The base station sends (and repeats, as appropriate) the paging related information in the plurality of subframes identified by the paging occasion.

    Abstract: A communication system is disclosed which includes a distributed base station apparatus comprising a control plane unit, a user plane unit, and a distributed unit. Respective interfaces are set up between the control plane unit and the user plane unit, between the control plane unit and the distributed unit, and between the control plane unit and a core network node. The control plane unit acts as a master control plane unit.     Abstract: A communication system comprising a non-terrestrial network part is disclosed in which a user equipment (UE) is served by one of the cells of the non-terrestrial network part. The UE determines whether to delay/suspend a small data transmission, based one or more associated parameters, so as to avoid a radio link failure or a handover. When the transmission is delayed/suspended, the UE initiates/resumes the data transmission in a new serving cell (e.g. after cell reselection or RRC establishment in the new cell), or via a relay (e.g. a device-to-device relay).
